My current logitech s200's are not good. As I finally sent off my p46 and got my tax back this month (woohoo). I have decided to buy some new speakers.

Budget: Up to about £75

I want some speakers with pretty good bass (mainly for dubstep wub wubs). Not too bothered if they are 2.1 or 5.1, but I assume in this price range 5.1 will sacrifice quality. But yeah if you know some good 5.1s in my budget then awesome.

Oh, and I must add, out of my good mates at uni my not so great (£20? when new) speakers used to be the best until my block mate bought these. So being better than these is a must!

If they're for listening to music then there's no point getting 5.1's.

In that price range, any amount of channels will sacrifice quality. You can barely get good headphones for that.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Creative T20's. They're surprisingly bassy for how small the units are. They look nice, very clear sound.

Had a look at what's available in your price range and ended up with the same as Microwave's suggestion.

I can't imagine they're any good, though. If you want something decent then you really do need to spend more.

The sub is 120 Watts IIRC

Were about £50 about 18 months ago, very good, very loud too

E: Just checked now and they're over £100 new

My friend has them and they are impressive. They obviously don't have the same room filling bass and sound like from big hifi speakers but they're surprisingly punchy.

If you can spend a bit more get the T40's. I have those and love them

Yep, the Z-2300s are just about the best power/price deal out there.

M-Audio AV30. AV40 if you can stretch it.
