Real world Facts about the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter
I know that there is already a JSF guide, but that one was written 5 years or so ago, and was about the X-35. This guide is about the in-service F-35A, not the F-35B featured in BF2. This guide is up to date, not plagiarized, and to my personal troll group (I love you all), sorry, I didn’t copy-paste the whole thing. Sorry if you wanted something to gripe about. You’ll find something you don’t like, though. You trolls always do .
Everybody, say thank-you to Mitch for the awesome pictures.
Aircraft: F35a-JSF
Manufacturer: Lockheed Martin
Maximum Speed: Mach 1.5
Entered Service: 2008
Development begun: 2005
Price:
- F35A- 40 million dollars
- F35B- 50 million dollars
- F35C- 50 million dollars.
Combat Radius/range: 1112 km (691 miles)
Armament: Provisions for one M61A2 rotary cannon, four underwing pylons with an accommodation of 5000 capacity each+ 2 AIM-120C AMRAAM missiles and two 907 kg Joint Direct Attack Munitions bombs in the weapons bay. 6 AIM120C AMRAAM missiles may also be carried in the weapons bay, instead of just two AIM120C’s and 2 JDAM’s.

The F-35A JSF is one of the most stunning and effective fighters ever produced. It is unique in the respect that this designated fighter can serve the attack role just as effectively. In 1994, the JSF program was initiated. It was an open contest for companies to design an aircraft that met the requirements of a hard hitting close range fighter. Boeing decided to come forward with their entry, the X-32, but Lockheed Martin’s X-35 blew it away almost completely. The F-35a has a relatively low combat range, but like the f-22, it was meant for short range striking missions. Unlike the F-22, which was meant for front line air bases, the F-35 was designed to be operated from carriers, although it could still operate from front-line airbases. It carries considerable striking power, but its two most distinguishing characteristics are the following. It is a stealth fighter with VTOL capabilities, meaning it can hover. It will replace famous aircraft like the f-16’s, and it’s fellow hoverers, the Harriers. The F-35B and C models incorporate lift fans and roll moderators, allowing it to hover more steadily. Like the Harrier, it can be launched from incredibly tight spaces, and it can be refueled and rearmed quite quickly. Models have already been evaluated by Australia, Spain, Canada, Germany, and may serve in those countries in the future. It is currently operated by the USAF, USN, USMC, and will be used to support Britain’s troops. It contains a large lift-fan shaft behind the cockpit, and a vector engined nozzle, which both significantly stabilize the aircraft. The F-35’s shaft driven lift system and its vectored nozzle provide safe handling for maintenance crews.
Will Replace: USAF’s F-16’s and f-18’s, USN’s F-18’s and A-6’s, USMC and RAF’s Harrier fleets.
Celebrity appearances: It was featured in the fourth installment of the Die Hard series, “Live free or Die Hard”, though it was unfortunately trying to kill Bruce Willis. Hudson hawk did that already. D:
Comparison: F-35 verse Britain’s famous Harrier (AV-8B) Harrier 2 model.
The F-35 is faster than the Harrier, as well as newer. Each has a similar range, and each use similar vertical lift power plants. (V-TOL/STOVL). However, the F-35 can carry much more advanced AA missiles than the Harrier, and three times as many, although the Harrier’s AIM-9 sidewinders are extremely potent for close range AA combat. The Harrier carries more ground attack weapons as a standard load than the F-35. However, the F-35 JSF can carry a much larger total weapons load than the harrier. The F-35 has a lot more thrust than a Harrier.
Um, I'm not a troll . I hope. Sorry about the large amount of "real world facts" that people used for profanity.
To those who read this post, I will not be posting any new articles all weekend. But after easter monday... wait and see. The trolls haven't beaten me yet. I'm playing my trump card on tuesday...
