What do you think the US military's new rifle should be?

M16A4 MWS is fine, especially when cleaned properly and if you use the right lubrification.

It depends if whoever is with you is a scouser or not, I had 3 in the section, plus a scouse corporal and a scouse sergeant lololol

Eh... We generally have 6 man teams, not 13. We also only have one officer per platoon, not per section.
2 teams (SGT leading each) = 1 squad (SSG leading).
4 squads = 1 platoon (2LT nominally in charge, SFC really in charge).
2 platoons + HQ section = 1 company.

There will be 4 officers in the entire company. The CO (Captain), the XO (1st LT) and 2 platoon leaders (2nd LTs).

I like the SCAR personally. I don't see all the M16s in the Army's inventory going away anytime soon. Not with two wars going on and millions of rifles to replace.

every company ive been in had 3 platoons and an hq

infantry that is.  I know this because I seem to have always been in a 3rd platoon.

Psyop is different though.

We only had two platoons in each company in my battalion. Most battalions don't have a Delta company and we did.

depends.  When I joined there was an echo company with a 4 platoon structure for my osut battalion. When I was in 2/7 there was a delta along with other infantry battalions in 3rd brigade until about year before OIF II when the delta companies were phased out.

Well, I also wasn't infantry so that comes into play too I mean when I was in basic there were 4 platoons in my company. In AIT there were 3. At my PDS there were 2 so I assume it's set up with some logic to it.

I mean we technically had a Headquarters Platoon but it was just mechanics, the NBC chick, supply and the arms room guy. Probably only 15-17 people among them so It's more of a section than a platoon.

jord what's a better rifle the M16 or AK47?
It's really down to preference. They have pros and cons. The M16 fires a small 5.56mm round very fast and very accurately, whilst the AK-47 fires a big heavy 7.62mm round slower and more inaccurately, but has more stopping power.

I originally was rooting for the Bushmaster ACR but it's a little too pricy. SCAR is nice though and I think it would be a nice replacement for some M16s/M4s. It's as reliable as a HK416 and versatile
