That's fucking crazy!

Also, I didn't know that you could get the bend's with an ascent that's too quick...

What if the oxygen fails, and the door becomes jammed, would he just float up into outerspace or what?

I know it's highly unlikely but an interesting concept to toy around with.

Why would he float up into outer space?
Go read how buoyancy works.

I know how buoyancy works.

The balloon has to be lighter than the surrounding air, but do YOU know the specifics on the device they are using?

They spoke of how if he rose too quick he might experience the bends, this leads me to believe that they are using some crazy shit.

So what. The higher they  go the thinner the air gets and the less the ballon floats.

How could it float off into space when the air gets so thin that it wont support the weight of the craft?

Where does space end, where does the air not exist in any amount....

Could the equipment he's using get him up that high

If he ends up at 160k, or however man feet, and the door jams, who's getting him out?

There's my refined, clear question.

Well as he gets higher the balloon expands, so presumably at some point it'd pop. Space starts at about 300,000 feet, so he's quite a way off yet.
