So i've got my tower at a house with no screen, only a laptop to test with. the tower boots fine, everythings all chill, so i've run a cable from my GPU into the port on the laptop, and done FN+whatever on the laptop to switch to what should be the tower's screen...except nothing loads?

suggestions?

Your laptop would need a monitor in line input thingy, is the only way it would work.

i'm just going to buy a screen. in this world of visual wizardry, i'm pretty lost but this is what i like so far;

Now my budget is probably capped at 150 UNITED KINGDOM GOLD COINS, and the websites have to be in that aforementioned SUPERIOR CURRENCY and have to deliver to the UK also.

needs VGA and such input, bigger than 17'' widescreen would be pretty pro also

'but ted, you never actually buy tech stuff'. this is true, however mother dearest's credit card is in my hand atm, so i'll probably spend her UNITED KINGDOM GOLD COINS (virtually) in the next few hours

i dont mind splashing 150rlbux, but if you could also toss out stuff around 100-150 and between that would be cool. also if anyone has any of the monitors in question tell me what they're like.

also, does a 4850 kick out enough graphical jizz to feed a monitor like that?

If you don't mind spending a (little) bit more, I highly recommend my monitor, the Samsung Syncmaster 2233. It's just a tad over £200, has a resolution of 1680x1050 (16:10) and the RZ model has 120Hz.

FYI, 4850 will do fine at the native resolution with stuff like EVE, BF2, TF2, but some of the newer games (BF:BC2) will struggle a bit on the higher settings.

humm no upper limit is a definite 150 sadly, but good to know it's all chill with EvE and TF2 (the only games i really give a shit about atm) i'll be getting bfbc2 for sexbox

You're sorted then, you can get an awesome screen for 150 Sovereigns. That comes to nearly £23000.
