What programs do you use? I've got The Pacific for my dad, it's currently in .avi format, I think DVD players can play that if I'm not mistaken? So I don't have to do any conversion, right?

In total all three episodes come to 1.5GB, so I can fit it on one DVD, but I'll need something that can make me a menu.

depends on DVD player. Most new ones should support .avi. Just burn and try

He needs menus.  And so, split the avi by scenes.

You can add WMV movies to it (no support for AVI or MP4 which sucks!)

Plenty of free AVI to WMV converters out there.  But it's probably a codec issue.  AVI should import into DVD Maker as long as you have the AVI codec.  My VadoHD avi files work fine with DVD Maker.

I use this thing called ImgBurn, you just select build in the toolbar at the top and then find the file and then hit the button and it does it.

I use "Convert x to dvd" very simple, creates menus and splits it into chapters too.

I use that too when I need it to be read by a normal DVD player (my livingroom dvd can play avi's)

Only thing I don't like about it is only uses 2 cores to encode.

Ok man, there are guides online for doing it properly. I wish i could give you a link to a guide i used one time but it hasnt existed in years as far as i know.

But theres a lot of times i wish i could burn true working DVDs. Unless its done correctly, your audio/video will be out of sync. Please save yourself time and google terms like "burn dvd audio sync correct" or something like that till you find a guide that specifically mentions getting the audio/video sync right.

If i remember you had to turn the AVI into DVD format then select the two DVD format folders and burn those with another tool........ good thing warez is free lol

never had a problem with convert x as long as the original was in sync.

I had a problem with this before since I NEVER burn DVDs.  Simplest way that worked every time was to put the movies into Windows Movie Maker and then export them to the built in Windows DVD Maker.  Worked like a charm and had a pretty nice menu as well.

I use/like/prefer Nero tbh. And it has a DVD creator that you can use to create menus and stuff. Works well.
