My dad's gonna get me the laptop like he did with my brother. This is on my own money. So $2500 for the desktop.

well that's why I was asking. I live in an apartment off campus and have a decent sized desk and can fit 2 24s on it, but especially if he's going to be in a dorm or has an old monitor it changes things..

K so. I've always had Nvidia cards and I've been out of the tech loop for atleast a year. Should I get the GTX 480 (it has tesselation? wut) or the 5970?

So it's worth the $150 price difference?

It's basically two 5870s (admittedly underclocked a bit) put together. If you can afford it, it's the best card on the market atm.

I wouldn't get the VelociRaptor - at that price you could get an SSD.
Also, I think the G19 is a little overkill.

Anything I should change? I wasn't really sure about the mobo so I just went with something that had very good reviews...again, I've been out of the loop for a while now.

HAF is nice (I own one) but it gets a fuckton of dust in it. The top part is mesh with holes big enough for dust to just pass right through it.
