No. Is it the price?Bevo wrote:

My friend recommended me the mobo, it looks pretty decent for the price. What would you recommend in the place of it?Beduin wrote:

ed: just checked the benchmarks and the processors were basically the same, the 965 seemed to edge it out just barely.

...at stock speed right? Cause I think you can get more out of i5 OC specially with its lower power consumptionBevo wrote:

170 on the mobo seems excessive... and I dont plan on spending ~90 for a heatsink either. If I do get one it will be a cheaper and quieter one.

1. You might want aftermarket cooler even if you don't OC, stock is noisy.
2. Why get 785 board when better 790 is only few bucks more?
3. Why would you want to get overkill wattage 700w with worse build quality than the 550W Corsair?
4. That XFX HD 5850 is not reference one, it has actually worse cooler than reference. Its not even cheaper than the better ones.
5. Why Seagate HDD when there are better (read: Samsung and WD) drives for same price?

is 550W enough? Also, the 5850 has a lifetime warranty, that's why it was chosen.
ed: the 790 is in my cart now and is the same price, I just didn't update.

updated build
notes: Keeping the PSU 'cause it's cheaper, keeping current 5850 for lifetime warranty

Don't get worse PSU, not for 10 bucks savings. Corsair probably pays off in a year by having better efficiency anyway.

I7 920 169.99 At Microcenter
http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ … id=0302727
or i7 930 for 199.95
http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ … id=0331303
and i have had asus and gigabyte motherboards...
I currently have a gigabyte ep45 ud3p board and it's been rock solid and easy to overclock.
This is a great board and will work with the i7 processors
and it has 2 graphics card slots for crossfire if you upgrade
http://www.microcenter.com/single_produ … id=0323694
And i would probably get an ati 5770 or nvidia gtx 260 for an under 200 dollar card
For a 300-400 dollar card i would get a 5850 ati or 5870 ati
I have a q9400 proc/4890 ati/650 watt psu and 4gb of ram and play BFBC2 with no probs...
One big thing to remember is to get a good power supply... name brand with enough wattage
I have a 650watt antec and it's great.

Love is the answer
$36 all in all, the corsair 550 is 90+6 shippingGC_PaNzerFIN wrote:

ed: switched to an antec 550w, saves me a fiver over the one on the current build
