Hey guys, something weird just happened to the comp; I launched bad company 2 and got a bunch of funky looking lines all across the screen for a second just before the system restarted itself. Ever since I haven't been able to get a signal from my GPU to the monitor. Is my GPU fried? I've got a Radeon 4870x2 that hasn't experienced any major issues in 2~ yrs. Any help is appreciated.

This
once upon a midnight dreary, while i pron surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of ' hot  xxx galore'. While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I do not. Time for a new gpu I guess, I've been out of the loop in the tech world since my last build... anyone care to fill me in as to what GPUs I should be looking at/waiting for? Delicious karma awaits helpful posts :] Thanks.

I don't really know much of anything so take it with a grain of salt, but

5770 is a good card in the $150 price range, or 5850 if you're looking to spend closer to 300. The Nvidia equivalents are a little bit pricier for this range of cards.

I'm not gonna go to deep into this but atm, the best price/performance cards out there is from ATI with the 57xx or 58xx.
