I bought two iPads OMG, I absolutely love how clean and post modernistic the device styling is.  You wouldnt beleive how great it is to read my favorite books on the device (comics too!), I dont know what I'll do with my kindle now.  Also, being able to surf the internet on the iPad is SO much better than on my laptop, desktop, and iPhone.  I dont even mind that there isnt any flash support, I mean, who wants to casually play stupid flash games or used flash embedded news sites anyways?

The iPad is superb for loads of things that I bet you haven't even considered. Graphic novels on the iPad work very well. As an all in one remote for PC and home cinema it is excellent. Loads of things it can do better than anything else currently available.

I initially thought it looked like a fancy gimicky gadget, then I started to realise all the potential to do really quite useful stuff with it. It's all down to the imagination of the user - which given the attitude of many Mac fanbois, is likely to be very limited in most cases, but don't blame that on the product.
I agree it has a ton of potential and don't worry I thought of that.

You pretty much summed it up in the end. Which is why I'm saying there's no point.

Personally, if I had the money, I would get one. I have a cellphone, not a mini-computer iPhone. With the iPad I would use it for contacts, facebook of course, tons of work I could do just wandering around the house. I would email with it a lot more than I do with this PC, etc.  I can think of so many things I would do with it. But I can do just about all of those with my PC.

It's just a fancy gadget, I won't get it, but if I was a rich I would get it.
You can do all that with a laptop... and have a more useful item to play with...
Yeah but if you're rich you don't care if you buy useless stuff. In fact, you have to buy useless stuff to show you're rich

But I'm not rich.

The highest I'm ever aiming is my car, and that would be a WRX STI '07.

This.

..and btw. Do people look at 52'' televisions and say ..aw, that's just an oversized 22'' television? No because the experience changes drastically with a larger screen. Especially when browsing the internet.

I see lots of potential. I just wouldn't be an early adopter.

No I'm serious. I got one for me and one for the wife. Earlier I was browsing CNN on safari and the headline ticker said "oops looks like you don't have adobe flash 6 installed on your browser". I was like no problem! I downloaded the CNN app from the AppStore, then proceeded to read the news! I found this awesome story, so I copied the link, closed the app, then proceeded to open email up, and seamlessly emailed the link to my wife! It was awsm the way I can easily switch between apps on the device, it's like multitasking but instead of just running both apps I can quickly close and open them on at a time! Trust me, it just works! Really, who is so busy they have to run mtiple apps??

I still like the kindle for reading books. I held the ipad this w/e. I know ppl say," aw you are used to looking at backlit displays anyways (computer monitors)". Yea but that doesn't mean I don't enjoy the e-ink display. Yes you need ambient light, but it gives me the authentic feel of reading a book. It's my preference.

Most of the time when I am not working but "playing" it is only one thing at a time. Someone on facebook said "who only does one thing at a time" .. er, how about millions and millions of iPad, iPhone, and kindle users. The only instance I would really want to do two things at once is listening to music while surfing. But not much more. The iPad really isn't for productivity.

It's not a laptop or a netbook. Netbooks are hinged, they don't have a custom tailored app store, they don't have an accelerometer, aren't touchscreen, aren't 0.5" thick.. Running flash isn't necessarily a good thing. It was left off the iPad on purpose. It's a hog. Content providers that have traditionally used flash in the past are now developing platforms specifically for the iPad.

I just don't get the people saying "it's useless". er... no, you might not have a need for it, but it is not useless. I wouldn't mind having one laying on my coffee table so I could pick it up during the occasional commercial break and ban some BF2S members. I'm not passing judgment on something that has yet to show it's full potential.

Having said all of that.

The iPad and it's technology have great potential. I would buy one if I had the money and already owned a netbook. The iPad was never supposed to compete against regular PCs, it's in a different category altogether, so comparing it with laptops is pointless.

You guys love to hate.

By the time I can afford a car, the '07 with be a good 6 years old. With the mileage that baby will have I should be able to afford it.

Otherwise a cheap Toyota Tacoma or Tundra
