Keys Unbinding? Can't move the mouse or use the keyboard?

This is a bug that is occuring very commonly.

DIAGNOSIS:

BF2 starts normally, loads normally etc. However, when the 'join game' button is clicked, the screen loads and the mouse and keyboard stop working. Its as if the keyboard and mouse is disconnected but the keyboard and mouse work fine!

SOLUTION:

For some unknown reason, all the ingame keys in BF2 are UNBINDED. There are now no more controls. Ergo, you cannot move or use the mouse ingame.

To fix: load BF2 and log in.

Go to options.

Go to Controls. There should be a screen with lots of EMPTY BOXES. If there are a lot of EMPTY boxes, there's your problem.

Click the 'Reset to defaults' button in the bottom-left of the screen.

Now play on.

Hi everyone. I just registered here cuz I think it's here i'll find the solutions to my nightmares. Ok I explain. I played BF2 for 2 months now and yesterday, I came back from school, started the computer, started battlefield 2, as usual. But the problem came after. I loaded a multiplayer game and when I clicked the join button, everything seemed fine but I couldn't move my mouse nor my keyboard. I had to ctrl+alt+delete and then I saw this new thing in the taskmanager called ~e5.0001. I googled it and came across many forums, but there wasn't any clear way to get rid of it. So, here I am, asking for help.. I am really desesperate XD cuz I am badly addicted to BF2. Please everyone, I need help. :S

Well my friend, I do not know the answer. I had that problem though in moongamers karkand only. I could join squads, I could move my mouse pointer, I joined a squad and talked to a friend of mine, but I couldnt move. I may have been able to shoot, I dont remember but I couldnt move.. Bizarre. (Dont know if I spelled that right) But I feel your pain man. Did you try reinstalling it?

~e5.0001 is some process that starts with BF2. It's always been there, you've just enver noticed it. Sorry I can't help you with your problem otherwise =/

its something u changed. that process is part of bf2. just do a system restore and see if that fixes it. make sure u dont have a virus before u do that system restore.

Download processor explorer. It is put out by sysinternals. Company that makes Micro Trend anti virus (Best IMO).

It takes Ctrl-alt-dlt to a new lvl. It will list everything running, tells you were they are, what dll's it is attached to. everything. You can kill the process and delete all entries. The few virus's I have gotten i could take care of quickly with this.

You can also right click on the app/process and select "google" which will (Obviously) google what it is. This is extremly useful!

It also works great for bf2. I shut everything down except the vital windows apps.

Thanks man, but i downloaded a similar program and when i try to close the ~e5.0001 program, it automatically shuts down Bf2. On other forums, i read it has something to do with Macrovision and SafeDisc something.. Well, it sucks cuz i bought both bf2 and xpack.. Original cd keys.. I am sad..

Hey Alpha, ~e5.0001 is a copy protection file for many games that slows them down if it detects cracks. Even if you try and delete it, it will come back when you start the game. You said you've been playing fine for 2 months
so as this file runs EVERY TIME you start BF2 (and won't run without it), I would be looking elsewhere for a solution. Did you have any luck with the system restore?

Hey ~e5.0001, is used to run BF2 as everyone else is stating. Did this occur before you installed the xpacks? What xpacks do you have, SF and/or EF? Have you tried reinstalling BF2, xpacks, patch 1.22? What type of mouse and keyboard are you using? Are they different then the ones that you were using? Could be a driver conflict if they you are using a different driver then the driver that you were using in the past. Is your mouse/keyboard USB or PS/2? Are you using a keyboard like the Zboard, and plugging it up after you start BF2? If you are doing this, is your mouse plugged into the Zboard's USB hub? What other applications are you running at the same time? Does it occur on Single-Players, or only on server XYZ?

As you see there are a million things that it could be. Without a lot of detail it we can suggest a lot of things. Can you tell us what you do step by step, the more detail the better.

I've had this problem twice before.

For some inexplicable reason, BF2 decides to unbind EVERYTHING.

Go to options, then controls. If I'm right, there won't be anything in the bindings. Press default and everything should appear as normal

you NEED ~e5.0001 to play bf2, your problem has nothing to do with that
that sometimes happen to me like cant see/move mouse , crashes
