3 toads attached to each other in my pond.

When I was first out this morning it looked like they were dead so I was gonna go get a net and scoop them out but when I came back a while later they were moving around, making noises and stuff so they were definitely alive. oO

There's 3 there if you can't tell.

My question, I know toads go into that position when they mate but there's usually only 2 right? Why are 3 attached.

wait apparently toads dont actually have intercourse, the females just lay the eggs and the male is on her back to shoot the sperm out on the eggs? forgot about that. so maybe it doesnt matter if theres 3

now i just read that the female only allows 1 male.
