Yo

I'm looking for a phone (or phone App) that will display wireless signal strengths in decibles. I can't use iPhones... which is the part screwing me right now. Does anyone know of any phones that will display SSID's and signal strength meters for wireless networks? Hopefully we can find something for a blackberry or some sort of Verizon phone. (Doesn't have to be Verizon, but can't be iPhone)

Thanks to all who help.

Blackberry Bold 9700 does that.

Once on, if you hit ALT + NMLL it displays both the cell signal strength and Wi-fi strength in dBm. I assume that's what you want it to do?

Exactly what I want. Thanks Kerry.

I got the blackbery curve here at my desk and I'm pretty sure we have some Bold's around here somewhere. My curve only displays cell phone signals, not both.

Thanks again. I'll let you know what I find out once I get my hands on one.

Kerry?

Think you're mistaking me for Kmar

Eh, if you're running OS5 on your BB Curve, it should be able to do the same thing. Go to your home screen, hold ALT and type NMLL and see if your signal bar at the top changes. If you're running OS4, then I have no idea.

I are so retarded. I meant Zimms.

Need more coffee.

Anyways, yeah, did the alt NMLL thing on my curve, it only shows signal strength for my phone in dB's but I need to see regular wireless networks signal strengths and SSID's.

Easy enough, go to MANAGE CONNECTIONS, click on WIFI-OPTIONS and voila, the WIFI network you're connected to will show a dBm strength.

Alright, almost there... I can now scan for networks but the signal strength of those still shows up in bars, not dB's... I did the Alt NMLL thing which now displays in dB's on my home page (Upper right corner -83 etc.), but not on available wireless networks, which is what I need.

gah

When the Networks Pop up, hit the BB button, click on NETWORK DETAILS and then it's the 4th one down - SIGNAL STRENGTH.

Also, once you have the saved network, and you go straight into WIFI options, the strength will be displayed in dBm.

Also, you don't need to have ALT-NMLL to see the Signal Strength in dBm in Network Details, that works for the parts that it shows up in bars (except when scanning for networks).
