I don't see why people should be upset that slanty eyed people in the Americas don't refer to non slanty eyed Asians as Asians. The same thing happens here except the opposite. Over here they're referred to as "Orientals" or some shit.

Most real Chinese (those that don't live in America/Europe or are like you) don't even have the same concept of Asian as we do, that's what I was saying before. To say that a Chinese person wouldn't think of an Indian as an Asian (or vice versa) doesn't make sense, because they don't even have these sorts of Asian concepts in the first place. I think this thread is so offensive. Ive watched how I speak in regards to race quite a bit when people told me (Mods in fact) it is offensive to say 'Im off round the Paki shop, does anybody want anything'.

Yeah... my main point is Paki is not the same as Paddy. Because people don't generally call non-Irish people as 'paddies' or something in an attempt at being offensive. Whereas they do with the word Paki... or Jew, things like that.
Trust me, Chinese people do not consider Indians or even Indonesians Asian for that matter. They consider them simple Indian or Indonesian. I grew up in school watching Pakistani's and Indians calling each other 'Paki, Rag head and Nigga'. I wasnt comfy with it then but through nievity thought it was ok.

I dunno about that, I still think the concept of Asian in that sense is mainly a Western idea. As for Chinese people thinking Buddha is Chinese, I'll gather that most people probably think Buddha is Chinese (for those who don't know, he was Indian... it boils down to the fact that Buddhism is huge outside of India compared to inside, just like Christianity is with Europe and compared to its origins in the Middle East) you look at paintings of Jesus and he looks Northern European which is also abit of a stretch to say the least, but it's similar with Buddha.
