Probably just market fluctuations in general...the price of memory as a whole has gone up quite a bit.
probs supply and demand. New shit is DDR3 so they probs limit the production of DDR2 which makes it more scarce.

Even if you're playing older games like BF2 that were fine on 2GB, it will still help that you are on 7 now. If you don't run very many apps at the same time and mostly play poker, probably not that big of a difference.
If you are building a new rig, 4GB min is pretty standard. I dunno if I would upgrade though if I wasn't rolling in cash.

i mean my comp already pretty much rapes with an e8400 and intel ssd. cant see how it could be noticeably faster tbh

I once took out 2gb of RAM (have 3x1gb installed) whilst troubleshooting a system problem and I noticed a huge difference, just in boot up times and loading programs, even Windows Explorer was very noticeably slower.

Funfact: It's probably already set to that. Getting another 2GB of RAM will stop windows using your SSD as a pagefile as often, thus increasing its life span.

I doubt he is even getting in to the paging space with any regularity. I'm sitting here on 64 bit 7 with all my apps that I generally have open, probably more than he does, high quality music playing, 720p movie playing and I'm at 1.66 GB.
