I know I'm digging up old posts, but I've been looking around in the AK market and I was wondering, would that Russian AK happen to be an Arsenal converted Saiga rifle?

yes
I know the trigger group in those is American made, any other parts? Also, how do you like it compared to the other AK?

Some people just like to take pictures of loaded mags...
wouldn't keeping the mags loaded put stress on the spring and make it preform poorly when the zombies attackTrotskygrad wrote:

Not really, and he might only have 28 rounds in each. Or 5The_Lance_117 wrote:

Yeah, it's not such a good idea to preload all your mags. If you want to do something like that, get stripper clips and fill them up, so you can charge your mags faster, -.-.
furniture for sure, probably muzzle brake too, but not sure on that.ROGUEDD wrote:

I like them both a lot, but I'd probably keep the Yugo out of the two. It accepts mags easier and they lock up tighter. The Yugo is a bit heavier because of the thicker receiver and feels a bit better when you shoot it. They Yugo also has a better/more durable finish on it. I can go either way between the wood and plastic, I like them both. What I'd like to get is a side folding Arsenal in 223/556.
AK quality depends on who built it. If you are buying a cheaper AK (like a Century Int.) I suggest you purchase it in person so you can inspect it, rather than having it mailed to you. I had to inspect 3-4 Yugo's before I found one that was to my liking.
There's nothing wrong with keeping mags loaded. What weakens the spring is cycles. I keep many mags fully loaded and have for years. Never had an issue.Trotskygrad wrote:

we can only have 5 round mags in canada
That really blows.
doesn't it put force on the lips? Or maybe the force that deforms the lips is when rounds are stripped out by the bolt...west-phoenix-az wrote:

yeah I think you're right, the force of a cycle is much greater than the force of the mag spring.
Sorta ironic considering you have stripper clips in your avatar.
I've read about the force on the lips, but haven't encountered it myself. Of all my mags the only mags that concern me loaded are the plastic p-mags, you must keep the top cover clipped on so the lips don't deform.
Stripper clips are great. The ones pictured are for SKS. The problem with stripper clips is ammo can be knocked off of them depending on how they are stored or shifted in a pack.

Now why on earth would I need a tax stamp?

that is one short barrel. Shortest i've seen among all the short barrel AR-15 variants. Isn't the front sight a bit smaller to compensate for the decreased distance between rear and front?west-phoenix-az wrote:

Don't believe so.
Huh. Oh, and couldn't you just fit one of these onto your current Arsenal?
