What would be a good upgrade from  8800GTS 512MB? Will consider nVidia / ATI

Only thing that I would need is 2 DVI ports and preferably under $130.

Current specs:
ASUS P5L-VM1394 (Socket LGA-775)
4GB OCZ Gold RAM
C2D E6600 @ 2.4GHz

Which kinda leads me to my next question, would my CPU be a bottleneck if I were to upgrade my vid card?

Thanks to all!

E: I realise it's a tad over budget, but it's really worth it. Below that there's not much, nearest in ATi would be 5750 which kinda sucks (ATi basically take all the chips that aren't good enough to be 5770s and put them into making 5750s) and for nVidia there's the GTS 250 which is pretty much terrible.

I don't know US prices... current budget card is 5770 for performance equal to a 4870 or if you can afford it. get a 5850

That CPU won't do much good for long @ stock speeds... ask Max or Panz for overclocking advice...

I recently bought an ATI 5770, upgraded from an old 8500GT and temporarily an ATI 5450. Very happy. Even if it's a couple dollars out of your price range, you won't regret it once you drop it into your system.

Yeah your gonna want to OC that with something like a 5770, and I wouldnt bother getting anything better than that with your current set up... the e6600 at stock will bottleneck that card. Hell even my i5 750 lets my 5850 open up in leaps and bounds as I OC it further.

5770 also has dual DVI, in case you weren't already aware.

Ok. Thanks all. Karma inbound. One last question:
is that cooler design ^^  better than this one?

The one you posted I think would cool better, I know will exhaust the hot air much better, but is also very loud past 30% fan speed, which you will probably not have to go above. Not so sure about the one finray posted.

They're both identical, the only difference on the XFX site is the one you posted has a minimum power requirement of 450watts.

edit: If you can find the Rev4 version, this has far superior cooling than the other versions (a mate has one, it has a bigger fan and copper heat pipes and less of a cover on it).

It all comes down to how good your case is vented...

If you have no trouble with heat now, get the one finny posted, it will be more quiet and cool better if the case allows it, the reference cooler will vent the air out of the case and therefore be better if you have heat issues already... but reference coolers are far louder than the others,,,

do you have stock cooling on your cpu btw?

What do you mean by "reference coolers"?

If your going to upgrade your card, your going to want to OC that CPU to make the  most of it, so your going to want aftermarket cooling on your CPU as well.... I want to google that mobo and see how capable it is first before making any recomendations ... also could you post full rig specs.

CPU
GPU
Mobo
Ram
PSU
OS
Case
Manufacturer: If its not a DIY

Reference cooler = The one ATi / Nvidia put on their reference cards...

e.g. the default cooler...

He means the original release cooler, they are referred to as reference coolers, Like the PCB is referred to as the reference PCB.

Just looked up that mobo, its not gonna OC to well.... Your starting to get into the area of upgrading one component meaning you should upgrade all.
You will probably see a large performance increase from just upping the vid card, but no where near optimal.

Haha ya, well it is 4 years old. I may just save up and make a new build.

I say buy new...

If your old PC is that bad you shouldn't waste money on upgrading it...

I was a bit hesitant to shell out cash on a new build and upgraded a few parts. It turned into a completely new system and I'm very happy as a result.

Just do it, you'll thank yourself later.

Well you're going to have to upgrade your vidya card when you upgrade your whole PC, so why not upgrade it now and get the performance gain while you save up for the rest of the system?
