I will buy a new laptop. Maximum I want to spend is 1000 €.

I do want to play games, so I was looking for a decent GPU.

This is what I found:

Acer Aspire 7745G-434G50Bn

- Intel Core i5 430M (2,26 GHz /2,53 GHz Turbo Boost, 3 MB shared L3 Cache)
- 4096 MB (2x 2048 MB) DDR3, 1066 MHz
- 500 GB S-ATA HD - 5.400rpm
- GPU ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5850 - 1024 MB DDR3 VRAM
- Blu-ray Disc ROM mit DVD SuperMulti (DL)
- 43,9 cm (17,3'') HD+ Acer CineCrystal High-Brightness
- 1600 x 900 Pixel, 16:9

it's at 999€.

Would I be better off with a better CPU and instead take only a ATI 5650?

Keep in mind that I'm from Germany and I'd like to buy here, for warranty reasons.

If you could tell me what you think that would be great. Thanks.

Acers usually are quite unreliable. They'll work decently if you just have them sit on a desk, but if you actually try to use one as a laptop, you'll see that it's got some kind of mechanical failure within half a year.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

My ex has an Acer, 12 months old no problems, she uses it all the time for uni work, sometimes almost 24 hours at a stretch when she's cramming assignments.

Just sayin.

Heres an Asian secret. They only work well for about 12-14 months, after that they get fucked.

Thanks! while dell and lenovo don't even come close in terms of performance, I found an interesting one from Asus.

Intel® Core™ i7 720QM 4x 1,6 Ghz
RAM 4096 MB DDR3 SDRAM
Display 17,3" 1600 x 900 Pixel
ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5730 1024MB DDR3
HDD: 500 GB 5400rpm

y/n?

ASUS are about equal in build quality to Acer.
