Because it guards the coasts...menzo wrote:

It's also S&R, like in the Bering Straight.
And above your tomb, the stars will belong to us.
I think you'll find most people here have a higher IQ than you. I'm not bragging here btw, you're just dense. The whole reason you're raging is because you couldn't properly convey what you were trying to say, hence why people commented on it.-Sh1fty- wrote:

I mean Americans alright? What part of that do you not understand? I mistook her for an American, I didn't know he was from Amsterdam until I read his location.
FUCK you guys get me mad, I shouldn't get mad over such low IQ BS around here.
You're complaining because we didn't understand what you meant, we only understood what you posted. We're not clairvoyant.
What part of "Americans should know the branches of the US military" do you not understand?
Ahem, IQ...

more like water police and S&R. Police should be part of the military then-Sh1fty- wrote:

Thats not what you said though.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Doesn't say anything about Americans here.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Seriously who the heck doesn't know every branch of the US military? You've got USAF, US army, US navy, US coast guard, and everything put together, USMC.
Doesn't say anything about Americans here either.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Menzo, it's common knowledge. You should at least know there's 5 branches of the US military and their names. You don't have to know what they do.
Don't people learn anything in school anymore?
You're backtracking, you said that and i quote "Seriously who the heck doesn't know every branch of the US military?" not "Americans should know the branches of the US military".
IQ...
Who gives a shit?
ya'll worked it out...
anyhow...it's about time the series started actually shooting again. i was beginning to think the war was about porking an aussie, getting rained on, and sitting around in a mental hospital.

Well this ain't DS&T so I'm not going to start piecing the quotes and explaining them.
The thing that separates humans from machines is we can think for ourselves. If you don't understand what I'm saying, try understanding past the words a bit k?
Now, to get things straight.
If you live in America, I think you should know the 5 branches of the US military. That's five little extra things one afternoon in a classroom will teach you.

I'm not having a go at you here. You knew what you meant, we only knew what you typed. We didn't know you meant all Americans, it came across as you saying everyone should know the branches.-Sh1fty- wrote:

It's amusing watching Marines do frontal assaults on everything in the show. It reflects real life even today.eleven bravo wrote:

Why the hell did they not mortar that house from the beginning in Episode 7? They had binoculars, and there was like 30 japs sitting there pointing LMGs at em.
John, develop.

Maybe they were to far away? I don't know how far away they were or the range of a mortar but before they were in range of the Japs in the building they were hit by artillery. Was there AA preventing airstrikes?
also their lack of knowing how to put on a torniquet.JohnG@lt wrote:

I just don't think we should take Hollywood for a reference.
I'm sure some radio guy could have called in an artillery strike from the 16 inchers to level that place.

There's a reason they are called jarheads, the frontal assault is always the preferred method of attack for the Marines because it shows off their bravado. It's why they always take horrific casualties anytime they fight, not because they are sent into the most deadly places, which they would have you believe. The standard Marine fights with outdated weapons and tactics compared to the Army. The Navy would rather spend its money and time building new aircraft carriers that it doesn't have the manpower to staff.-Sh1fty- wrote:

Standard engagement: Army platoon contacts an enemy platoon, they dig in and call in artillery or air support. If in the same situation, the Marines would charge the other platoon head on. Sure, it sounds cooler to be in the charge but it's completely inefficient and a waste of lives.

well, Id have to say that there is no real "standard" engagement. staying mobile is alway preffered over hunkering in. one thing I noticed for sure in Iraq though fighting with marines was their lack of communication between elements during fire fights. no shortage of violence of action though.
also, marines seem to have less of an ability to properly aquire a target before shooting. the ramp on my old bradley could attest to that.

A marine company on road patrol started a firefight with Abu Ghraib prison (which was being run by the Army). They almost killed a girl in my platoon When asked afterwards why they opened fire, they replied that the prison "Looked suspicious". Nevermind that it was surrounded by concertina wire and a 10 foot tall brick wall with American soldiers standing guard in watch towers around it...eleven bravo wrote:

I talked to a former jarhead and he told me about the time that his unit was engaged by Army units at abu ghraib. the usual, army sucks, navy USMC rules banter. Ofcourse whenever I hear shit like that I take with a grain of salt.
