Why has no one suggested CPU yet?

This sort of behaviour from the system is in line with the sort of issues you can get from a dodgy CPU. DOA CPUs are less common than most of the other parts suggested, but it could still be that.
I did earlier.  seeing as teh BSOD is referencing an IRQ error.
So you did - I've only been skimming this thread....

And looking at those errors, I'd say CPU or Mobo. Unfortunately the most awkward parts to test properly.

Have yet to get a bluescreen, but will probably try at least another 10 boots.

If I do start getting bluescreens though, how would I know if it was the processor or the mobo?
By swapping them out with ones that you know work and prolonged testing.
Considering I trashed my last computer due to suspected mobo failure, that may be a real issue.

Beevoh you suck at computers.

Maybe you've got what I had a couple of years ago, static fingers. I would break every computer component I ever touched.

it's becoming apparent your problem is between the keyboard and the floor.

Leave my penis out of this

edit: while I was disconnecting things from my pc I also took out my wireless card... no issues thus far booting and rebooting and rebooting and rebooting and rebooting.

I guess if it still works another 5-6 boots from now I'll start putting stuff back in.

I put everything back in so I could play BC2 for a bit

started it up 5-6 times today and all resulted in the same thing. Greeted by 10+ error messages as windows boots from my autorunning programs (Steam, X-fire, Displayfusion, Catalyst Control Center, etc.) all saying the program stopped working or failed to boot or whatnot. The computer then typically bluescreens ~5 minutes after.

This has got to point to something right? Someone's seen this before and can tell me the answer?

You guys can just post anything, it will make me feel better to know people are at least reading this.

So I'm doing another OS install. I tried booting on my other HDD and it wouldn't even let me connect to the internets, so I didn't spend much time fooling around in there. Seemed to work, though. Not that it means anything, because my new HDD works sporadically as well.

While reinstalling windows7, it asked me where I wanted to install. Which is confusing, because it gave me the option of Drive 0 (my new HDD) partition 1 or 2. I never created a paritition. I think windows created it by itself, behind my back.

I seriously fucking think there's some midget inside my case fucking with me or something. Like, goddamn.

If you feed the midget, maybe he'll be nice to you.

Do you have a Windows XP disk laying around? Maybe it's a driver issue with Windows 7. In what order are you installing your drivers? Some drivers need a reboot before installing any others (chipset/reboot, system utilities/reboot, etc.)

Uhm... Huh?

The only drivers I installed are the ATi video/audio from their website.

The motherboard should have came with a CD for the drivers, no?

It's all good brutha. So you're going to want to reinstall everythiung from the ground up.

Load the OS
Load the chipset/reboot (On the CD)
Load the System software/reboot (On the CD)
Load all other drivers (video/audio/whatever, no reboots required between those)

Profit

So I just did it in the wrong order again?

I would. It's important to do it in the right order. Delete any partitions that show up too. It's just wasting space.

well thank fuck, hopefully this fixes everything

KCD, I don't see any partitions when I go into My Computer, it only shows up when I install my OS. Is it lieing to me or do I need to go through some weird options in 7 for it to show me the paritions?

You'd have to set them as active and assign them drive letters (Right click on Computer, manage, disk management)

But you don't need them

When you're reformatting, delete all the partitions that pop up in the list. It should say unallocated space xxxGB when you're done. Highlight it, click New and choose the size of it.

I'm not reformatting, I'm just letting windows create a ".old" so I can grab stuff from my last install.

Back up the stuff you want on an external drive or CDs or whatever. Fresh. Clean. Install. Start all over bro. Do it.

It's all the same. I only grab stuff from my steam install. Shouldn't matter. Anyway it's only 100m, not 100g. Seems windows uses it to boot.
