On topic of people saying AA is still underpowered, why would you sit in it when you are sure that you are going to get killed? I have a 4.5 KD in AA with over 1500 kills, and I only remember a couple of deaths that were caused by a head on jet. If the jet is coming at you head on with full health there is no way you'll kill it unless you missiles hit by accident and not a lock on. ( Even then two might not be enough ) Shooting a head on jet is pretty much voluntary suicide, yet every game people get killed this. Most of the time the jets MG will not destroy the AA if you are not in it, so when he flies past you you can still shoot him. Pretty much every game I fly a jet I get someone shoot me missing both shots and sit in the AA waiting for me to make a lap and kill them... This is almost as amazing as lone wolf support soldiers shooting APCs with their LMGs.

Yeah i had no luck with a AA vs jet. But a AA vs a heli, no comp. AA will win, well at least with me in it.

Against a good pilot, ground AA is at best just a compliment to friendly planes. Ground AA by itself will never kill a good pilot, with good situational awareness, and a timer in the back of his head for when his flares will refresh. The only thing AA can do against jets, is give a different static AA the opportunity to shoot at the jet without flares, or force the enemy jet to use flares so the friendly jet can finish them off.

Ground AA is not an anti-jet solution. The only reason it works on helis is because they usually always get a second chance to fire, or can wait till flares are dropped and gone before firing... with jets, you have no such options because they move in and out of range so quickly.

AA is to keep jets of your own jets.

Basicly a ground mounted stinger has a better chance of blowing up a hummer then actually blowing up a jet. But it can't even do THAT right.

i think aa only does good when it chases so when the jet flys by spin shoot hop out the aa so it doesn't make any more tone and BOOM i get a kill

I find the view sitting in aa to be likely to get you killed by a sniper or on someones knife so I wait till there flying by to get in fire then get out.   I can and do kill jets, but the better pilots only stay in range for a short window of time, never enough for a lock.  It does take skill to kill the jets, it was only easy when none of the pilots were not used to avoid the aa after the aa patch.

I say its better to not use any of the fixed IGLA or Stinger emplacements.  The only time I used the IGLA / Stinger was to shoot APC's capping flags in Oman.

I say using the mobile AA vehicles are much better.  You have 4 missiles + the gun.  In order to survive with the mobile AA like in Daqing Oilfields,  stay close to cover,  because if they try to attack you, the trees can absorb some to most of the damage whether with dummy bombs or laser guided.  Laser guided is really hard to avoid,  and 90% of the time you would get killed by the laser.

So just use the mobile AA and use cover like buildings,  mountain ridges,  trees.

In order to take down the jets,  usually know how their flight pattern is,  I've seen pilots who usually do a huge loop around the map,  and you can usually atack from behind.  When you shoot missiles from a lock on,  aim the missiles in front of the jet, this would give missles the lead to hit the jet.

In order to win in AA,  you need the element of surpise against a seasoned pilot.

Find a stinger site/spot where the jets are likely to turn around, eg on the CP behind the most forward one your team has taken. The site by the MEC airfield on Kubra dam (if you're MEC) seems to give me good opportunities.

AA vehicle is pretty good on Kubra (providing you have half assed jet pilots.) Stinger sites are pretty worthless on jets though.  I think what they could do is increase the range when locking on jets to even things out a bit. The justification could be that a jet engine produces more heat. What do you think?

Man I know that I was in heaven when 1.21 came out. I fuggin hate jets with a passion. LOL

Kubra Dam is a pretty good map for mobile AA,  that is only if you can get out of the chokehold from the US base.

The first time I used mobile AA in the pre 1.22 days I took out a J-10.  That guy got so pissed the next time he rammed me with his jet...LOL.

Im sorry I disagree. When i fly on Kubra dam I am scared of the Tunguskas, i can never break the lock (or is this cuz im in a F18 and not a J10 ) I barrel roll and loop de loop to no avail. I can evade a Mig easy though...........

Just hit the burners and go up. Make sure it's AA and not an enemy jet by checking your 6 (F11, you probably knew this but just telling others) Works most of the time.

For the AA dudes, just wait for the jet/helo to have it's face away from you and fire. Course it's harder with a jet becuase they are usually gone in a couple of seconds..

Best time to use it is when you see a dogfight going on and you can help out the teamate, even if the pilot checks their 6 it's hard to determine whats locking onto you if you are on AA too. Most manuvers used to get rid of jets don't work for AA (one note: don't bother trying this when you are USMC facing China, the missiles will dodge the J10 and go after the F35 like some crazy chinese hacker got into the AA missile system)
