Change is good for me too.
Earlier Friday, Obama called the Arizona bill "misguided" and instructed the Justice Department to examine it to see if it's legal. He also said the federal government must enact immigration reform at the national level — or leave the door open to "irresponsibility by others."Barry Obama wrote:
"That includes, for example, the recent efforts in Arizona, which threaten to undermine basic notions of fairness that we cherish as Americans, as well as the trust between police and their communities that is so crucial to keeping us safe,"
Sign...I cite the old pot to kettle thing, but I am weary.
The irresponsibility is on the part of the feds. If that were not so, Arizona would not be taking this step. This should not be an issue, but sadly, it is.
Barry jumped out there to essentially say " don't worry, we have a plan; no more illegal aliens, and um... universal health care for the immigrants, and motor voter registration and welfare sign up applications on the table there..."
I seriously would not wipe my arse with the mans autograph.
" We cannot delay while the destruction that happens South of our border, our international border creeps its way North.
We in Arizona have been more than patient, waiting for Washington to act. But decades of federal inaction and misguided policy has created a dangerous situation. "
Let's break this down, shall we?
Duh, if it were not for this law and the sheriff Arizona would be swarmed with illegal aliens like the ones you mentioned.13/f/taiwan wrote:

You neglect something: he obtained citizenship. That means he had to try. Most Mexicans do nothing and have no idea how to get papers.Hurricane2k9 wrote:
Are you saying this man doesn't deserve his citizenship and all the things he's done? Even though he's a way more productive and important member of society than this 'natural-born' citizen?War Man wrote:
You referring to those who got their citizenship despite coming here illegally because of our stupid politicians?
War Man, maybe you should direct your anger toward politicians who allow businesses to hire illegal immigrants. It ain't the Chicano's fault that businesses are allowed to pay people off-the-books knowing that their chances of being punished for it are next to none.
Not only is that law stupid, but the fools tht wrote it should be hung.13/f/taiwan wrote:
If you are the victim of the crime and illegal in states like New York, Florida and the border states it is illegal for police to ask you about your status in this country.Hurricane2k9 wrote:
The thing is, they already had the authority to check your immigration status if you were a suspect in a crime. Now the bill seems to let any old police officer walk up to you and demand your papers.cpt.fass1 wrote:
On one side it tightens up our borders, Remember that Arizona is right there and faces a ton of crime due to the border. ON the other hand, it now takes away US citizens rights very interesting.

America has always been a country of and for immigrants. It's just that at some point somebody at the switched say " fuck it, we will figure it out someday.
Say for example you kid gets a ticket. He has to answer for his crime. The illegals shrug it off and buy a new identity. All hyperbole aside, [url=http://www.aim.org/media-monitor/organ-transplants-for-illegal-aliens/]sometimes illegal aliens get priority for America donated organs.cpt.fass1 wrote:
Well when our children have the same opportunities as all the Illegals coming here I'll say it's messed up. Right now it isn't so, our higher education isn't free for US Citizens so why do we cater to other countries?
Bill won't pass. It's unconstitutional.
Nonsense.13/f/taiwan wrote:

How so? In what way?
I will be eagerly awaiting.
Obamas point of view is that all human insides Arizona are citizens.
He is insane.
Oh, and it was signed into law bud.

The bill passed both the House and Senate and was signed by our Governor. It will become law later this year unless the Federal Government steps in or a lawsuit blocks it.13/f/taiwan wrote:

What part of the bill is unconstitutional?
Please quote the bill and not a media source.

I love this new law. I only hope it is a beacon for other states in our nation to follow. It is about time action and not lip service has been put into motion regarding illegal immigration
Meh...it costs an illegal anywhere from 2k-5k to get "smuggled" into the US. Open the borders, sell citizenship for $2,500 a pop, presto.....were on our way towards economic recovery.
great logic, sell for 2500 bucks then spend 25,000 on each in entitlement.rawls2 wrote:

Would you be factoring the tax revenues that each person would be bringing in? Hell, charge them twice the tax as citizens for a probationary period.
welfare recipients do not pay income taxes, and neither do illegal immigrants. Ya see the truth is, ya just can't sell citizenship, there kinda needs to a market in need of filling. Most countries do not just let people in, they need to be able to fill a need within their country.rawls2 wrote:

I don't know. To me it would work. There is a demand for their services or else they wouldn't be here.lowing wrote:

No they are here for entitlement, and this bullshit of having your baby born in the US makes it a US citizen even if you are not. As they get exposed for what they are and the burdon they create they leave.rawls2 wrote:

There is a demand for their service when they are willing to accept less pay than legal citizens.

Well that definitely makes me sympathetic towards them.
I just heard on the radio a point of view that has given me pause and making me second guess my position.west-phoenix-az wrote:

A lady was being inteviewed and made the comment that for all of us conservatives that are screaming for less govt. Nothing stands out as big brother keeping their thumb on its citizens as being stopped by govt. and forced to produce papers....Can't really deny that.
It's true that I want less government, but one thing I expect from the government is border protection.

I agree, but man, there are millions of American citizens and legal immigrants that fit the profiling used to enforce this bill. I do not see any way around that. and the visons of a police state checking papers of people on the streets is not an attractive one.west-phoenix-az wrote:
