Getting sick of public servers. Should servers be rank determined?

I am getting increasingly frustrated with the EA UK public servers, noobs and inexperiance makes me frustrated and sometimes angry.

I know 5-6 regular good players on the server I play on, but then theres another 55+ players who havent got a clue.

What should I do? I like the freedom I have on the servers, but I don't like the players, I could play on clan servers but the majority of them have their own power hungry idiot admin with stupid rules.

A few players were discussing (in game) how they should have servers that only allowe certain ranks, to keep the noobs with the noobs and the experianced players with the experianced players.

I'm not saying this should happen, I'm asking for more oppinions.

I know there are some really good, lower ranked players out there but that number isnt anywhere near to the number of rubbish lower ranked players. Giving them a server where they are playing against other noobs would give them a chance to learn the game and progress together without someone (like me) flaming them for doing something wrong.

If a find a lower ranked player doing something they shouldnt, I'll join their squad/make my own and get them to join, and explain to them what they're doing wrong and how they should do it next time. If this guy choses to listen or not is his own choice, but the wrong choice will get him killed.

Yeah, I think some servers like that would be a good idea. As a no0b myself I am often aware that I may be doing things which others on the server may find annoying. Not idiotic stuff like baseraping or whatever but noob stuff - rushing out and getting killed when I should have stayed low, giving away our position with a pointless grenade chuck, driving badly and so forth. When I join a server I tend to join a squad and follow whatever orders I get and I try to help out as much as I can. But it must be annoying sometimes for the better players in my squad. So yeah, I'm sure a higher ranked server would be popular.

I have to say that despite being a noob even I get pissed off with a lot of the stuff that goes on on some servers. I hate waiting all that time to load up a map only to find it's full of statpadders or baserapers. Though, on the other hand I have squadded up with some cool people too

I guess it is the main weakness of BF2 - it relies on the majority of players to be non-retarded.

Sometimes the higher ranked players can be total wankers and privates can be great.
Lower ranked players tend to forgive for accidental tks

Not a bad idea. Problem is though. How is anyone going to improve in the game if they arent playing with the supposed better players ?

totally agree. i'm not great by any means but most i've learned has been from playing with more experienced players

That might work, but how the servers will be divided among which ranks may be tough to determine. One potential problem would be having too many of one type of server and not enough of another.

To an extent I agree, which is why I wouldn't like to see all servers run this way. I like playing with / observing better players because it gives me ideas / insights. But I'm sure it would be nice for there to be the option, so that better players could play a game (hopefully) without getting noobnerfed and so that us noobs could go two minutes without getting utterly owned. I find that the longer I stay alive, the more I often learn. I think there's deffo a place for such servers.

they tend to be more friendly and also dont abuse/whore vehicles and attack bases as infantry, but then there are the assholes who punish everytime and whore ( usually people who had accounts reset) but the vast majority of privates are good , I would be on my way to a sergaent if my graph card didnt die >.< so i am now stuck without bf2 , bf42 has been fun while i look for a new card hopefully next week or so i might get a new card

Sometimes beginners makes mistakes but what destroys my playing experience more are smacktards, that's where I'd like to draw the line.

Unfortunately punishes aren't counted, otherwise I'd like a server who only accepts players with low TK/kill and punish/kill or something like that.

I love the EA UK 64/64 official and multiplay.co.uk servers, there are some great players there as you say. The only non ea uk serv I have visited for a while is Sharqui 24/7 insomnia 56/56 I think. I like the rotations of maps and you can have admins in them. (ea uk) The only rules are I think No Tk'ing, Rasict or bad language (check load screen). Thank christ it don't monitor what I say on mic. If they fined like a swearbox I'd be skint.

i have found alot more enlisted rank players, who are new to the game. can be a good point fest, its like playing against bots. good for the moral some times

Rank determined servers would not work. I may have over 13,000 points but I have a horrible K/D ratio and i'm not as good as I should be at this point mostly because of my computer.

Yeah, but wasting the same hapless n00bs over and over, round after round... it gets boring. An "Officer's Mess" high-ranks-only type server would be a good place for skilled players to get together and separate the men from the statpadders.

Rank is based on your [time played] not on your [skill]. So, I don't think that it will be possible to separate [noobs] from [good players]. You will only divide [high ranked, more time played] players from [low ranked] players. That's my opinion.
