I don't play any games on Steam now let alone any games on the PC. So is it possible that i could sell my Steam account details with all the games etc...?

What data/details would i need to provide with it?

Yeah i wondered about that, if i did go ahead, someone would need my login details and any retail discs i had including serial keys, right?

Yes. It would make sense to change all of your personal details on the account (including email {set up an email inbox just for the purposes of selling this account} and password) before selling. If you can sell it without using something like eBay then I suppose that's better - as Valve are unlikely to notice then.

And don't list the account name if you do sell it on eBay/etc.

I have seen people selling steam accounts on IRC, I know E-bay removes listings for steam accounts if they find em.

If the game is registered in steam you don't need the retail discs or serial's, once it's in your account it can be downloaded and installed strait from steam.

I went out and purchased the DVD version of TF2 specifically because I didn't want to download it because my net was too shit to download the 4.5GB file, the CD just installed Steam which proceeded to download all 5GB.

I didn't know that, that's pretty dumb.  I got HL1 and orange box retail and HL1 actually had installer disks, not sure about orange box as I just entered the key and let it install all the games while I did something else (bought it retail because all I had at the moment was cash)

An apparently common scam with steam accounts is to sell them early (when they have little to no games), and then wait a year or two for the new owner to buy some games up, and then reclaim the accont. Steam support wont do shit, because it's against their T&C to buy accounts anyway.

That's the thing, the actual disk had 4.5GB of stuff on it, but Steam never bothered actually trying to install off the disk.

Maybe because you were connected to the internet?  Try pulling the plug.

This was many many months ago, I don't have such major net issues now, and TF2's already installed on my PC. But I was helllla pissed at the time.
