Speaking of which I discovered I can't run 10km in under 45 mins anymore. Still, beer is good after running.
just got in now. discovered that, despite my naive assumptions, my body and cardiovascular system is still pretty fucked.

been healthy and clean for a month now, pretty much. super-healthy eating regime, tons of water, small exercises to get myself active etc.etc.

managed a 3/4 mile circuit at best. hilly terrain. heavy backpack. at the top of a mega long climb i pretty much hit the wall and had to lie down and hold back the dizzying puke-vibes. havent felt that since i was about 17 and pushed myself too hard when cross-country running in competition. really made me realize just how much drugs fuck you; even if it ain't apparent on the outside, my heart is a piece of shit at the moment. probably going to take months/years to get back to peak fitness, if ever. oh well. F U N T I M E S .

well actually my main problem was it AINT FUCKING WARM OUTSIDE. beautifully sunny day, clear skies... but a bitchin' wind. i sat down to read a book 'pon a grassy knoll overlooking a rather edifying vantage and, my, i was struck with a most bracing wind rushing o'er the heathlands. fuck that. glad i packed a hoodie and a scarf. cycled home wrapped in winter-warm clothes with shorts and ray-bans on

pic cause it happened:

Southern England eh? I spent most of my time over there in and near Northern Wales. (i.e, Bolton, Warrington, Manchester... chav shitholes)

EDIT: Not to say the countryside wasn't epic. The cities were a mite depressing though. North Wales (Goggleyed Cymro or w/e the fuck Sheffa calls it) was EPIC. Loved the area around Rexham... If I recall the name correctly. Conwy was pretty sweet too.

The UK looks great. Well, the parts of it not covered in buildings anyway.

fare thee well, setting off now 'pon my faithful harde-backe steed. i have elected to leave the downhill bike in the shed for another season, i am simply too unfit. my poor little heart. i shall return in several hours; if not, i have succumbed to that perennial problem of ye olde heart attack, or have henceforth otherwise been eaten by wolves.
my Giant hard-tail. fuck the orange, it is staying locked under key until i can handle any sort of climb. rear suspension would literally give me a heart-attack at the moment. admittedly the giant has downhill tires and pretty forgiving front-sus, so it's not the easiest climber or the greatest cross-country stallion... but it's the lesser of two evils.

flecco: yeah, southern england is only about 1000000 times better than oop norf. that picture is overlooking the river severn as it starts to broaden and become an estuary; you can see the river in the shot, curving around about to go through the historic dock-town of ye olde Gloucester. pic is taken from about 15 miles away from river, in the forest of dean. i recommend it about a trillion times more than anywhere like bloody bolton.

Fuck you my Grandfather's father's family is from Bolton, good scummy coal mining stock!

Spoiler (highlight to read):
Grandfather's mother's family = canal boating gypsy scum. We don't talk about them much. Lowest class of the lower classes.

I'm going on another bike ride on Friday. Going to the New Forest again (~30mile round trip). Should be gud.

after all, you are australian. notions of class in HM's penal colony #142 are borderline-absurd

very nice, liq. we have a sculpture trail especially designed as a scenic route for bikes here - catering to all levels and types of terrain. similar to the trail around the new forest, no doubt. easily over 100 miles worth of single-track, cycle-path and all-terrain here. used to go out all day with my mates and do a good 25-30 miles, as well. no road. pretty taxing. i feel like an old man; partying has prematurely aged me

Just go out once or twice a week and push yourself a little ... you'll be back up to a decent level of fitness in no time

The trouble with cycling to the New Forest is it's actually pretty far away, so by the time I get there I'm kinda ready to start making my way back, lol.
