I'm thinking of purchasing one of these 2 laptops from a local Best Buy. Not from online or anywhere else.

Just plan on using it for normal everyday use, mostly around the house.

Here are the two I'm considering. Is the Dell worth the extra $100 and why?
The Dell has a better processor and looks like a longer battery life. Don't know which RAM is better, if I'd even notice.

my toshiba satellite still works from 05(was the leading gaming latptop then) lol

i just recommened getting that extra warranty on it whichever you choose

The Toshiba is using DDR3 ram, which is the new double data rate standard as opposed to the dells DDR2.. I would go w/ teh toshiba.. Unless you really need a webcam built in!

Why would I want or need the warranty? Seems like a rip off.
I don't break shit very often, pretty careful.

Don't need a web cam.

Will most people even notice the difference between the processors?

I overlooked this, but it is true. damn, seems like they both have something going for them.. I suppose you really dont need ddr3 in a laptop for casual use, get the dell.

warranty made up for itself after laptop incidents involving needing new motherboards(more than 2 times) and other bs hardware related things...after the first year of use(my warranty expired after 3 yrs)

Looking at some stuff online it appears the Dell's processor is 4-5 times faster. Is that about right?

Are laptop failures really common?
I don't see paying an extra $100+ for a warranty on a $400-500 product.

yeah that laptop i had was like 1500 when i got it.. warranty necessary there Toshiba Satellite P105 S921
and no i don't throw it around lol it's my baby. do travel alot tho.
