Has anyone here done this before? Is the input laggy or totally fine for games? How's setting it up? (I recall seeing some official drivers put out by Sony???)

Bluetooth USB adapters are dirt cheap (hell, I should probably just get one anyway and not worry if the controller will work or not before purchasing), and it'd be nice to play the slew of GTA games with a controller.

If worse comes to worse I've still got my PS2->USB converter, but wires are just so overrated.

Awesome, thank you both for the replies!

Here's another question, have you (or anyone you know) been able to use it as a remote for the PC as well? I guess you'd have to find some remote software that could detect and utilize the controller.

I'll have to do some digging around I guess, but that would be pretty sweet if it could work.

I'd highly doubt it GTA IV for the PC had support for the PS3 controllers, I know it does like 360 controller, as do many other cross-ported games since the 360 controllers come in USB form.  But nobody expects anyone to go through the trouble of hooking up a PS3 controller to a PC so they don't program with that in mind usually

It's probably possible to set it up manually but I don't think you'll be able to use Sixaxis

Manual set up is not a problem, as long as the computer can detect it and tells me I have a gamepad.

And if by "sixaxis" you mean motion control, that's not a problem at all. Don't think any of my pc games would use it.

I did it a couple times. Lots of work. Most things don't work.

4 buttons, 2 analog, a d pad & 4 shoulder buttons is a pretty damn generic set up. Xbox controller in most cases is seen as a "gamepad".
With some exceptions there is basically generic controller support.
