I know it was just a fluke......but it made me laugh, cause it was really ridiculous looking, and one of those things that just solidifies in your mind how buggy this game can be sometimes.

I was playing on a Sharqi map the other night, and I was commander.  I dropped arty on a flag that was being capped, and was watching as the arty was coming down.  Well, you know how each shell kinda leaves a visible smoke trail of sorts as it comes down?  One particular shell came down RIGHT on top of a Hummer....and the shell BOUNCED off the top of the hummer back into the sky.....leaving the same visible smoke trail as it bounced back up.

So if you've ever wonder, while being commander.....why sometimes you can get 12 kills while dropping arty blindly.........but kill no one when you strategically place an arty strike on top of 3 enemy squads sitting around giving each other the circle jerk..........apparently it's because some of the arty rounds are made of rubber.

always wondered why sometimes my arty scored zero kills in a crowded kill zone....lolsauce always good to start the day with a laugh

I saw this on Clean Sweep while commanding the other night. Wierd stuff. I guess the ammo team replaced the PD fuzes with a bouncy ball.

TREES!!!

There is no collision with Arty and Stinger Missles when they come in contact with Trees.
For Fun and to Prove my Point, get into a Stinger Site anywhere thats near a Tree and Shoot into the Tree.

The Missle Will Move Past The Trees and Zig-Zag or Spiral Out of Control.

It's not trees, I have seen this happend to me a bunch of times while I was commander on Sharqi and Karkand. I saw the Artillery bounce off the ground. It's just another silly glitch.

Well, I will say that trees are also a culprit for funny business.  Yes, the trees definitely do make AA go whacky.  Again, on Sharqi......while being base raped by the Havok....I jumped in the TV station AA.......and aimed in the direction of the havok, and fired off the missiles.  But, the position of the Havok lead the missiles right into a tree.........so the missiles went flying off in all funny kinds of zig zag directions.    If the missiles is going to be affected by the tree, then the first one should blow the tree to shit and back........and then the second one should be a clear shot.  None of this zig zag crap.

I have seen this many many times. The arty will do this when there are no trees around. Not surprisingly it only does it when it is a direct hit on either a troop or a vehicle. I used to think it was a hack, but I am pretty sure it is a bug. Just dont put the arty icon directly on your target, offset it slightly and you can reduce the occurance of bounces.

I once was at a receiving end of an enemy commander's arty, just before I died, I saw an arty shell hit a tree, bounce back up at a 45 deg angle hitting an enemy jet flying near the arty circle. Needless to say the commander got TK for the jet...

Yeah when i was trying to get up some time in AA on Dragon valley and get my basics. i was shooting down a few jets when i shot into the leaves of a tree and missiles went whacko. Kept me entertained for about the 10 mins i needed. While getting a few jet kills here and there. I'm easily entertained
