I mean't compared to regular DDR2 ram you insensitive prickFinray wrote:

No, it's only slow compared to >2GB of DDR2. Baggs here only has 1GB. Therefore it'll be positively fast for him.
Yes...Finray wrote:

But what I was trying to say was:
2GB DDR2 > 1GB DDR2 + Flash > 1GB DDR2

My X41T has a 1.6GHz Pentium M and 1GB RAM. Pretty comparable to modern netbooks. Runs fine with W7. Youtube, multiple tabs and all

DO NOT LISTEN TO THIS POST! Fuck sakes, wipe Windows 7? No way, chief.Flaming_Maniac wrote:
Then you either need to a) download the .exe for Jolicloud on W7, and do the installation through W7 or b) wipe 7, partition the disk, install 7 on one and Jolicloud on the other using the USB stick.
Honestly, I would not run the installation EXE, just download the ISO and the USB stick utility. Works like a charm. You need about a 2GB USB drive to do it, but you can install alongside any OS without any issues. 100GB for a Jolicloud partition is a bit much, though. But whatever you wanna do. I realize you've already gotten it up and running, but I felt I needed to post this after FM's numbnut post...
If you aren't going to use the .exe you might as well wipe. There is no benefit to putting the .iso on a stick and then letting the partition manager install alongside rather than using the .exe in W7 itself. They do the exact same thing. If you have issues, you should wipe the disk and let jolicloud do a low level format.
Wiping the disk completely takes away the fucking dual-boot? Why the hell would you do that to begin with? The EXE never worked on my EEE 900 for whatever reason, that's why I recommend the ISO - don't have to worry about a piece of software being funny.
Why the hell would you say wipe the disk, though? That completely defeats the purpose of a dual-boot system. Fuck sakes, man.

That is exactly the risk you run with the .iso haha. It is a piece of software messing with a disk that has data on it in a low level manner, considering it is a beta there is a good chance something goes wrong. If you read my post again I said wipe the disk (that he just got anyways, the only thing on it is a fresh W7 install) and then partition the disk using W7 and then reinstall 7 and Jolicloud. You are still dual-booting 7 and Jolicloud, the only difference is you didn't give the Jolicloud partition manager a chance.CapnNismo wrote:

Have you installed Jolicloud via ISO before? The partition manager is right there. You can set it up and play with it as you wish (you can set whatever partition sizes you want for the entire disk, I know, I've done it on mine). A lot less risk here of something going wrong because you aren't actually running Win7 alongside the Jolicloud installer. Your way erases the disk, forces him to install Win7 again (he doesn't even have an optical drive, so this alone would be more work than necessary) and then install Jolicloud?
Perhaps I'm misunderstanding what you're saying, but you just want to make more work for whoever follows your "plan".

I am saying you should just install via .exe, as I did, you get the same partition manager. If there are concerns about something going wrong then it's worth it to do it "right", format, partition, install each OS.
/facepalm

Running Ubuntu Netbook Remix. Uses basically no RAM, so I figured the limiting factor was the CPU.
ubuntu should run great. Compiz may be a little slow on the integrated GPU though
here it is on w7 ultimate 32bit, firefox with 13 tabs, youtube, bunch of flash and javascript, pidgin. Even then it's smooth. Inb4 those sites suck. Just a random selection

Huh, that's fucking weird. Maybe I'll give it a reinstall at some point and see if it goes any better.
