Yeah, but if you're smoking an apperatus that requires the flame for more than a second (ie. *cough*bong*cough*) then you get the flavour, and quite strongly too.

No, no, no.

Clippers FTW.

Cheap, decent quality, replaceable flints and refillable.

Although I agree that Zippos are crap and make stuff taste funny.
Love my metal clipper

I nicked my mates one of those by mistake last week (I have now returned it, of course).

They are nice - but not really any nicer than a regular clipper. Better weight to them, adjustable flame is nice - but reduced gas capacity is a drawback.

You can definitely smoke out of a pipe with a zippo, even if its that rare kind of tobacco that you keep a flame on.

If you tip the zippo too much like it was a normal lighter the flame won't cooperate. Don't tip the zippo more then half way, and tip the pipe a little too, then use the suction as normal to bring the flame down into the bowl.

It works fine, but you are right in thinking it will taste like shit.

Much better to use a ordinary Bic. Non-name brands suck, and torch lighters are too hot, and will burn up some of the active ingredients in your uhh... tobacco... and even crack glass, especially if its already flawed (cheaply made or scratched/cracked)

Bic Lighter > matches (let the match burn for a second before smoking) > random liquor store lighters > crack torches > zippos.

Pardon me, but weren't Zippo's designed for bikers because they maintain a flame even in strong winds? A Bic lighter cannot do that. Apart from that, while the biker image might not appeal to everyone, Bic lighters are completely style-less.

If you want a stylish lighter that works, you get yourself a Ronson, period.

If you want something that just works all the time, get a Windmill Delta Stormproof Lighter. They are difficult to describe but they remind me of a miniature yet engine. Straight colourless flame that can withstand then outdoors even better than a zippo.

Can you smoke "tobacco" out of a glass pipe with a Zippo? Does the fuel affect the taste/effects at all? Looking for experienced responses, mkay?
Im not sure about a pipe but for the first few tokes of a bifta it does make a slight difference.

I heard all Zippo's are made in American Prisons.  Have a look at the base of yours if you have one.

Same way you taste the sulfur when you use a match.

The ones ive got arent brilliant in the wind but they stay lit (just).
Must use one about 15 times a day and i fill it up monthly, never changed the wick in the one im using (had it nearly a year) the one before that i changed once in about 2 years. As for the taste, you dont notice it after a while.
I'd type my pc specs out all fancy again but teh mods would remove it. Again.
