I've met people with ADD/ADHD ... one is the tpical lazy, stupid attention whoring idiot who wants attention and the other actually does have it... if you meet people who do and don't have it you really can tell the difference.
It is usually people using it as an excuse though... the person i've met with it doesn't go around saying it every 5 minutes.

When I was a kid none of this shit really existed, so I was a bit skeptical when I was pushed into it (not by a doctor). It is easy for untrained, uneducated people on an internet gaming forum to say it is bullshit or its not real, but you are not qualified, you have no medical training, probally no training of any kind, so seriously stfu. Same goes for parenting, you don't have kids? Also stfu.
Personally I am not lazy, make more money than most people here (I don't work a ton of hours either), and have a career that I love and do very well at.
However I also am of the opinion that much of this is a push for drug companies. I won't seek meds, i just don't see it as a solution. Besides it won't make me not an asshole
edit: the doctor doing the diagnosis and testing is not the same doctor who does prescribing. This could be someone form a totally different practice, so the diagnosing doctor would never see any drug company benefit from his/her diagnosis.

Obviously some kids do have ADD/ADHD, I know a woman whose kid only slept one hour in twenty-four.
Equally there are a hell of a lot of lazy parents who can't be bothered with parenting and would rather drug their kids, AND need to have something to bitch to other parents about.

I went on holiday for a week and my Dads, girlfriends son came along. He's about 12 or whatever. Well 7-14 I assume, I don't know.
Anyway, it's an asshole thing to say but fuck me did he ruin that holiday. "MUMMY IM EATING A TOMATOE LOOK" as he spits the remains of an all inclusive breakfast in the general direction of mine. On the third day I was seriously contemplating offing him in the pool, but I realised he wasn't going to the toilet that day and I wasn't getting in that water. Anyway for the rest of the holiday I took the edge off the situation by having beer for breakfast, dinner, snacks and supper. It worked.
So yeah, you're damn right they exist because fuck nobody could be that annoying and not have something.
