What on earth have you running their, with 3 gigs and most on low. i have 512 mb and everything on medium, some things off (dynamic light) and 100% view

With 1 gig of ram i would suggest a mixture of Medium and Low settings. I normally leave Dynamic Shadows OFF and Dynamic Lighting on MEDIUM. Depends really on taste and speed. The lower the settings the more FPS you can get. I found it a trial and error process until i found settings i was happy with. The general rule of thumb is :

1 Gig RAM = Low/Medium Settings
1 1/2 Gig RAM= Medium Settings
2 Gig RAM=High/Ultra High Settings.

Do you have an onboard soundcard or a separate one as this can effect performance.

Hope this helps.

he asked "what sttings can I run best, so i dont have to wait to long for a map to load??" high settings = longer load time at least.. no matter what

and i can run higher settings.. i just try to keep 50+fps at all times.. and i do run geomitry on high and effects on medium.. not for looks but for other reasons (like w/ medium effects u can see trail of heli rocket.)

and lastly memory doesnt affect how high of settings u can run really (altho it does matter at beginning if u high textures because of all the loading)  but ... if u want fps then u need good videocard/processor

and i agree w/ smotdibbler.. those are settings you could run ... but lower = better for load time.

I'm running:

Athlon 64 3500+ (fastesnt I could get without getting silly money)
2Gb of 400mhz DDR RAM (Cheap Kingston stuff)
GeForce 6800 (Only £150 at the time)

And I run all settings on max, with view distance at 100% - It all looks B-E-A-utiful....

PS I'm a uni student, so this was built on a very limited budget...

Im getting loads of lag on 64 player games and my rig is this:

p4 3ghz
1gb ram
256mb 6800gsx

The card is AGP wich is a bit shit to be honest, but i have just ordered 1 gb more ram and a new PSU.

I can run 32 players on all high with no aa tho.

800x600
geometrics high
view 100%
everything else low

I would recommend this for any system, since you can recognize the enemy easier if u have textures on low quality

I've got 3.4 ghz P4, 2gb XMS, 6800GT and everything on high runs fine on 64 player.

With your rig, you should do pretty well on medium/off. A better vid card would help alot though.

Correct, RAM has turned out to be the most important thing when it comes to gfx, a good card and a decent CPU is obviously helpful but the effect of switching from 512MB/1GB to 2GB is massive.

And as everyone else is posting there rig specs

Hiper 580W PSU
Asus a8n SLI premium
AMD x2 4200+ @ 2.75GHz
2x1GB OSZ Performance RAM
Leadtek 512MB 7800GTX @ 550/1700 MHz
x-fi xtreme music sound card

Runs BF2 and any other game you care to throw at it like a dream
