PASADENA - No one was injured after a Pasadena Police officer accidentally fired a shot during an arrest Monday morning.
Police attempted to stop a vehicle on the 1000 block of North Raymond Avenue at about 8:43 a.m. Monday when they noticed the driver fit the description of a suspect wanted in a domestic violence case. The vehicle did not stop and instead turned into a driveway. Police followed the vehicle and an officer accidentally fired a shot while getting out of his squad car to arrest the man, according to Pasadena Police Lt. Tracy Ibarra.
The shooting was ruled an "accidental discharge" by detectives, according to Lt. Tracy Ibarra.
"As one of the officers was exiting his vehicle, he accidentally discharged his weapon inside the vehicle," Ibarra said.
The shot put a bullet hole in the windshield of the officer's vehicle, Ibarra said.
The unidentified Latino male in his 30s was taken into custody without incident after the shot was fired, Qualls said.
One of the two officers involved in the incident suffered hearing loss from the gun shot and was taken to the hospital, Qualls said.
