What determines who gets on a server first after the map loads up,have encounterd it a few times and was astonished how some people are already in vehicles and halfway across the map.

Is this ping related,your internet connection,size of computer(i.e  Ram),.

What does determine,i also want someday to be the first on the map and have some chance of getting into a vehicle.

There's just too many shitheads in forums (as in every forums) but good thing is that here's still more those good persons, thank god. Well anyways, if you want to be 1st in the server you should have at least 2 GB of RAM (that's most important thing) and of course you need fast CPU too (somewhat 3 Ghz is enought, memory is more important). Fast HDD also help a little so if you have money buy HDD with 10,000 rpm (but that cost money, lot of money ). There's also differense between Linux and Windows servers. Loading times are extreme fast with fast computer in Linux servers, but loading times are much longer with Windows servers even with extreme good computer. So buy at least 2 GB of RAM and good CPU and go to Linux server. You'll be there before many others

EDIT: I remember time when I was playing with only 1 GB of RAM. When I went to server there was few flags already taken and I didn't have chance to get vehicles before others. But after I bought another GB of RAM I'm been mostly 1st or 2nd in server

To the orginal topic: I´m mostly the first at the server. I have a 1000 connection, so not so high. I don´t think it has much to do with this. Fast connection is more for quicker verification-times.
For the loading time it´s more recommend to have lots of fast RAM (I have two gigs in dual-channel) and a good graphic-card (mine is Gainward 6800 Ultra 256MB PCIx). The trick is to play with lower settings, that I actually could. So it loads very, very fast...

Connection and PC are both tied into one another when your talking about load times. I'm usually one of the first to spawn on North American based servers, but not so if I play on a Euro based server.
