Let's round hourly wage to an even $9... that's actually above minimum wage, right?
If one person is trying to provide, but can only find the same shit job everybody else wants... part time (20 hrs/wk)...
20hrs x 52 wks = 1040 hours a year...
1040 hrs x $9/hr = 9360... only $205 above the cut-off.

You benefit by having these people not become scavenging scum, in the immediate sense. Long-term, a society is only as good as its worst-off. It's something called charity.

I'm not condoning anything here, and i certainly am not one to support idlers. But you have to keep in mind that taxes are charity. Most of it goes to useless things which will never benefit you.

This is exactly the point. The money isn't STOLEN it's TAXED. Everyone can object to something concerning how the taxes are spent. I'd rather give 100 bucks to a poor family than spend a few billion on developing the latest useless fighter plane. I guess that's just a consequence of living in a...y'know...society.

edit: or shoulod I say democratic society where you can run for office or leave if you don't like it.

I was born there and lived a great deal of my life there.

any chance you would address the point of the argument? The govt. is not supposed to take ANYONES money to give to someone else they feel deserves it more than you. They also have welfare where I live now as well, although since I live in a "red state", the benefits are less I do believe, and so are the participants.... Know why there are less people on welfare here? Because being on welfare does not pay, there is no incentive to be on welfare.
