so i was thinking of buying the HP dv6t as a college laptop.  i want to have a nice powerful dual core with a decent graphics card (but i am going to bring my desktop so i won't be playing many games on the laptop).

one complaint i do have, though, is that the screen seems to be lacking.  1366x768?  1920x1080 would be pretty damn nice...

also, has anyone switched out a laptop HD for a SSD before?  i think that they're exactly the same size but i just want to make sure.

edit: looking at this for the SSD

my laptop is 1280x800... i like it

Anyway, SSDs can come in all sizes, just make sure what you get is compatible... it might also not hurt to see if you can just get an SSD upgrade?

I wouldn't buy anything with res lower than 1680x1050 for a 15+'' screen. I run an X25-M G2 160GB and a 128GB g.skill SSDs in my laptop. The sizes are identical. You can swap 'em out no problem.

While i clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", i muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, 404.

I got the Sony EB12FX (15.5") on sale recently, and I have no problems with the 1366 x 768 res, of course my desktop is only 1440 x 900, so I'm probably not one to ask...
Mine has only Intel GMA graphics, but they have an option to put a 5470 in for ~$50 if bought from Sony, I don't really know how that card stacks up for mobile cards, but I am getting by with the GMA graphics, though I am only doing school type work (word processing and such) on it. I suppose it really depends on your use of the machine, what resolution you need, but I think for what I'm doing, 1366 x 768 is perfectly acceptable.
