What does Anti Aliasing mean anyway? Mine is at x2 and I think it makes the game look sharper and crisper. But what does it really do?

exactly what you think makes better quality images
You have to learn the rules of the game and then you have to play better than anyone else.

It takes away the rough edges on objects, that the best way you can see it, I got it in 4x and it's sweet looking..

Well if you really wanted to know you would do a search. But it just means it smooths out the little jaggies to look more rounded.

It smoothes the edges (mostly in far away images). It inserts lines of grey pixels between the colours of the object you are looking at. This softens the change and tricks your eye (as the line of grey is only one or two pixels wide) and the image is more clearly defined.

I run a 7800GTX and I can barely notice wtf it does, but that's a very rough description.

The edges of a building for example is jagged, with 2x it halfs the jagged lines, with x4 even more until you get no visible jags

My graphix card is a 7800 GT, and without AA I'm hitting 80's-90's FPS. When I turn on AA at 4x I go down to 40-50 FPS. Is the FPS drop that much worth it to look better?

I mean is it worth it? Or does it all depend if you care more of the quality of the game rather than the lag performance?

I have the same card as you, and I prefer to have it at 4x. It just seems to make things smoother for me (excuse the pun).
