I am beginning to wonder if rank has anything to do with the size of the "hitbox" ?

I've noticed a few times recently where I have a high ranking person in my sights (L96A1) and they were laying prone, I'm all lined up for a headshot, BANG, nothing, reload, Bang, nothing, reload..................

I can't recall ever seeing this with the lower ranks (I have over 300 hours as sniper), it may just be coincidence but was wondering if anybody else has noticed it ?

No, rank has nothing to do with the size of the hitbox.

Hitboxes are messed up anyway, e.g. knife someone twice and they don't die.

But rank has nothing to do with them.

Perhaps your on a laggy server or not aiming properly. I never have a knifing issue, nor do I have a sniping issue such as you stated!

ping of 80 , player AFK i hit him with the knife POINT blank and i have to stab him twice
and that hasnt happend to me before Pre 1.2
and uhm -1 for u 2 for calling me a laggy ass motherfucker

I have had this happen multiple times before. It sucks! Wish they would fix it for once without screwing up some other thing in the game.

That has always pissed me off.

Or you have the pistol to their head and no hit.  Gotta love that.

But it is still better than most games out there that I have played.

I get that so often its not even funny, I shoot them in the face, the smoke appears yet they are still alive, then you go to knife them, and you even get cocky by diving in front of there face so they can watch you as they die, you punch the knife into hes stupid unaware face, yet nothing happens, he quickly turns in your direction and franticly shoots you as you try desperatly to stand up and run away.
