Remake old maps

Ever since the remake of Wake island I've been having dreams (almost) about playing BF2 on old BF 1942 maps like Midway Island and el Alamein. It would so fun! Can't anyone make those maps compatible with BF2, and launch them in the next path or something?!

Does anyone agree with me?

Yes, me! Especially the Rig in DC. I loved this map...

Unfortunatly, EA/Dice will be to busy at the moment with Armoured Fury and BF 2142, off course. Since the Wake Remake Map, we did'nt see any "gift's" from them. It would be good, if they develope it, so we can play them also on ranked servers...

Omaha beach would be nice, yeah. And Iwo Jima would also be alot of fun.

Some of the BF 1942 maps have already been remade.

Bocage is part of the Nations at War set ... and it has been running on ranked servers.

I believe Stalingrad, El Alamein and a couple of other 1942 maps have also been done .... you can find them through this download location.

Never played any other BF, so I don't know about fond memories, but I always like new maps, so if makes other people happy to have old/new maps, I'm with you. However, Wake seems pretty simple to me. Thats probably why they added it. It seems like something proficient with the editor could make in a few hours. Your origonal maps would need new buildings and quite alot of terrain work, unlike a small island. Besides, they probably only have three or four guys still working on BF2 patches and stuff.

Lost Village! This one has all the infantry you could want. No armor! No jeeps! Just a chopper to get you from A to B. Place plenty of AA and you've got a decent foot battle.

For you vehicle whores out there (and we know who we are), I loved DC Gazala. It had everything! Armor battles, apaches, a-10s, and even a mobile spawn c-130(at least i think it was a c-130)! The hills and valleys kept things interesting with some truly three dimensional combat even for the ground pounder. snipe fests, ambushes, and a long hike back up to the top if you fell or bailed out in the wrong spot.

maybe i should go look for a DC server now...

i rekon bringing back 1942 maps would be cool but imagine thick dense tall grasses of Vietnam knife kills would be off the chart and the imfantry action would be sweet

It would be great especially if it is ranked, the real map for vehicle whores is Operation Aberdeen, another good map is Guadacanal or maybe even Operation BattleAxe. I also like Operation Husky from the Road to Rome expansion

Bringing all the maps in a patch would be awsome! Starlengrad (sp) was awsome. Having the mods is all good, bt not everyone has them, and a lot arn't ranked. Stuff 2142, re release the 1942 with bf2 engine!!!

It is a shame that EA will never listen to us, the general consensus seems to be more in favor of a bf1942 remake, rather than an entirely new 2142 (IMO).

If there would be one remake of one map for BF2, it just has to be DC Lostvillage. Two blackhawks, one littlebird, a lake, some hills, a factory and lots of houses combined into the best map I ever played. I would have a go at it myself if it wasn't for me having no knowledge of 3d modelling and such.
