This is a new problem: I am 51 and son is 30 and we love to kill together on BF2, and in the past we have been able to get on to the same server pick a side then kick some @$$. We use X-fire to communicate it has been just great, now for the last couple of weeks when he is on a server and I try to join it is telling me I cannot get on the server. I try another server and I get right on. Need some help trying to figure out why the change. :l

This may seem like a stupid question, but are you both in the same house, or are you useing the same CD-Key?
do you use the same BF2 CD code
same cd key sounds like
try using 2 static ip address's. DHCP could be sharing you both on the same. I honestly have DHCP and my roomate and me have no probs using the same ip to play
so its more likely the key. i know that doesnt work if u share a key for sure

How are your computers connected? If you use a gateway, or a router, the server will get pretty startled that there are two people on with the same IP.

Thanks for the impute. The rest of the skinny. Different homes, remember he is 30, but I did try the game using his CD, and I decided I wanted to game and deleted his and I purchased my own copy. I don't want the computer cops at my house. This is the stange part we have played with and against each other in the past, it is only recent where this problem has surfaced.
I'm gonna go for the obvious here, but do you both have the same version or patch?
Not sure what game version he has, but don't we all have the same patch version? Not really sure, or how can I find out what patch version we have. I know how to get the game version.908741059871059781 wrote:

The last thought is how or who can I contact to try and get resolved?
You have to download the patch and install it.
the best indication is that alot of the servers in the game multiplayer > join internet is red (ie. your version doesn't match the server version.)
But don't you get a more detailed info on why you can't join?
You havn't been a bad boy and gotten yourself banned have you?

Maybe you can try using another computer to host your own game, try to log in on that server with the both of you.
BTW the latest version is 1,22.

Thanks, we have both of the patches and neither of us have been banned from a server. Buy the way have I mentioned that this has happened with more than one server. Since I am at work I could not remember just what the could not connect message was. I will pay more attention Tuesday night when Jason and try again.Friluftshund wrote:

Have any of you heard of any conflicts with x-fire and BF2?
I am not that computer savy to try and host my own game. Not sure what I would do. Thanks=TH=[Eleanor]-NL- wrote:

if you just get a standard failed to connect message, try connecting again right after it. that always works for me
