Well ive googled around and I can't find the answer to this puzzling chain of events. Just put this build together
5850
i5
4gb DDR3
Gigabyte P55M-UD2 mobo
Windows 7 x64 pro
I'm pretty sure it's nothing hardware related because when I don't install any drivers at all for the card it doesn't crash but as soon as I install the 10.5 drivers from ATi's website I get BSOD's out the ass. They just pop up after about 5 minutes of use on the computer even if it's just sitting at the desktop. The PC locks up completely and then the screen goes blank, displays a wide array of colors, and quickly flashes a blue screen then goes to restart and gives me the option to go to safe mode. I have tried removing the drivers in safe mode then reinstalling them but anytime I go to install them in safemode a message pops up saying it cannot figure out what kind of card I have but it works fine in normal mode. I have used driver sweep as well just to be sure I got everything and it didn't help at all.
Got some more info on the crash from the window that pops up after starting from a bsod....
