At school we work with EditPlus3 but it's not free.

My biggest issue is the amount of note-pads I have to open to edit several pages. I'd like to have one program open and just have tabs underneath. I did some Google searching but I didn't really find what I was looking for.

So for all of you web designers out there, please recommend me the best editor that's FREE.

Thank you!

I used Komodo for a little while, that's not bad, it's free and has tabs.

Thanks

I'm going to try it out now.

I have my CSS/XHTML exam tomorrow and I was just working on a little project for fun, it's my own internet site for practice, but it's such a pain in the arse using note pad.

I've gotten little sleep in the past few days and I have a big week ahead of me with 3 exams. CSS/XHTML, C and this Office Excel 2007 statistic managing thing.

I'm so screwed, I have no time whatsoever.

[EDIT]

The Komodo site sucks. I couldn't find the "Free" version of it anywhere. They're program is for making internet sites and their site sucks a big pair. Ridiculous!

Aptana is fucking awesome, but way too complex for a starter.

I suggest you go for notepad++ or "acquire" Dreamweaver CS4. Aptana, Netbeans and Eclipse are more for experienced developers that are using PHP/Ruby/Perl etc. They are great IDEs, but you need time to get used to them and be able to use their full "power". I've used Netbeans for the past year and it's awesome, but I switch between Aptana and that depending on what I'm doing.
