yeh, itd be pretty hard to continue to argue their awful stance

esp with the bs argument about no technology when they use microphones to talk to each other, and that was the reason that zadane got called for the headbutt 4 yrs ago

See, the thing is, I'd like to enjoy soccer. I just can't as it currently stands (hence the "in its current form" in my other post). It does seem FIFA is responsible, not the core aspects of soccer, but regardless, FIFA has a rather large influence over the World Cup and is mishandling it. It's impossible to take some of the results I've seen thus far seriously, and the frequency of the errors is just pitiful. Like I said, I can't believe anyone invests so much into the World Cup knowing their or their teams' success is half a result of their skill and half just getting lucky enough to have poor officiating favor them.
There is no luck involved in the results that have Brazil, Argentina, and Germany still in it. They are, imo, the best teams in the world. Every sport has bad 'luck', bad officiating, and unfair results. It would seem that you just so happened to tune in to see some recent bad calls. The effect has been a kneejerk judgment of an organization that has been around for 106 years. So it would seem.

Soccer is debatably this worlds most passionate sport. So naturally people are going to be extremely critical of the calls made against their team. Even the legit ones.

However, I will say that I will forever think "Hand of God" when I hear Maradona's name ..lol

The cumulative audience of the 64 matches of the 2010 FIFA World Cup is expected to be in excess of 26 billion.

Perhaps, but one of the games biggest draws is the non-stop, non-commercial interrupted play.  Maybe it's just more competent refs that are needed. This current batch leaves alot to be desired.

compared to some notable sports in U.S.
MLB 2009  revenue: 6.2 billion
NFL 2009 revenue 6.0 billion
NBA 2009 revenue 3.2 billion
NHL 2009 revenue 2.4 billion

yeah I wasnt happy about the officiating at all... in general they did an average job(maybe even below average), some teams got screwed more than the others...

it would literally take 5 seconds to see if the ball crossed the line or not.

today when the mexicans mobbed the referee after the shitty no offsides call we could've saved time if we had a guy watching replays saying tevez was offsides

I was not talking about revenue. There are so many variables relating to socioeconomic circumstances. Interest is best measure in viewership. Not in money spent.

When have you ever seen an instant replay completed in 5 seconds?

The announcers are able to do it within 30 seconds of seeing it happen. It doesn't seem that difficult to judge whether or not something crossed a line.

But you and I both know it doesnt work like that. I reversal would and should be made by the ref on the field. This means a challenge, stopping playing, running to the sidelines, and watching the review a few times. Really the solution is much simpler. Instead of +2 or +3 count on +15 or so.

fine, 30 seconds.  it's not like this is football with tons of bodies flying around trying to figure out if the guys knee touched the ground before he let go of the ball.

checking to see if the ball crossed the line would be easy, along with offsides calls

no running to the sidelines is necessary; they already have headsets...
