Is driving in the UK seriously that much more difficult than here in the States? From posts around here and on facebook, I get the impression that driving over there is incredibly hard and takes massive amounts of testing and intelligence and is something only the elite can do.

the examination process is pretty tough, yes. you can't waltz through a driving test. the theory examination is... easy enough for those with common sense. the practical examination is often a first-time-fail affair, for whatever bullshit reason they want to find. the entire 'learning to drive' thing over here normally takes lots more time, too, and costs a lot more money as a result. insurance rates are way higher too for first-time drivers. our roads are older roads/routes remember... no perfectly flat, long-straight high-ways over here. driving presents a modicum of challenge.mtb0minime wrote:
