I'm massively out of the loop for computer parts so could do with some help before I start trawling Hard forums and Tomshardware.
I'm looking to get an i5 750 based rig, with an aim to OC to near 4ghz on air, no plans for SLI/CF, pretty much for gaming only and want to keep the cost down where possible.
1) In terms of mobo do I want p55 or H55? H55 is a lot cheaper so I assume something is significantly worse about it.
2) Is there anyone with experience with the Gigabyte p55 UDx series boards? Do I want UD 2, 3, or 4; again I don't see what the extra cost is paying for.
3) Is microATX still crap? The boards are quite a bit cheaper and I'm not sure what it's losing out on other than a few PCI slots.
4) Am I gonna need DDR3? I've got 4gb of decent DDR2 so don't really want to spend the £100 unless it's gonna give a big boost.Oh I believe the new mobos require DDR3 lol
5) Will a good quality 500W PSU run this rig alright?
6) What's the current 'hot' graphics card in terms of price/performance? I've got a 9600GT so want something quite a bit better.
Cheers
