It's referring to the fact that if in rugby somebody deliberately stops what would have almost certainly been a try through foul play a penalty try is awarded. So in this case a goal would have been awarded anyway.Airwolf wrote:

I like going for the underdogs generally and I'm hoping a beautifully on-form Netherlands team will take the cup. With Germany vs. Argentina... I'm going to go for Germany - YES even with the cheating in the England match considered.
It's a personal thing. As most of you know I was in Argentina recently and the place let a bad taste in my mouth, first with the taxi robbing and then on my last day in South America the Hooker story which I still haven't told you guys about and am relentlessly overhyping. I loved part of my stay in Argentina but Argentina also kicked my ass a bit and I'd be glad to see the country disappointed to give me that sense of sweet sweet schadenfreude.
Plus I think Paul the Octopus predicted a German win but I think that's just because black yellow and orange are a more appetising colours than light blue and white.

Paul the Octopus can't see the flags, he even predicted Serbia's win over Germany in the tournament group stages. It took him hardly any time to choose the winner between ENG and GER. Symbolising how easily Germany would (and did) win.
