Britains problem was letting so many other non-British European ethnic groups settle into America at a time when all of Europe was fighting each other (so they already had issues), it was easy for the new Americans and their descendents to build up anti-British sentiment because so many Americans weren't even descendent or had links to Britain anyway. Unlike say, Australia/New Zealand where things were much more rosy.
It'd be interesting to see what the demographics of the US was like just before independence to see whether I'm just chatting shit or not

very not true. just prior to the revolution, americans in the colonies were for the most part decendants of english settlers and considered themselves englishmen. the fact that the crown didnt consider colonials as englishmen but still subjects was one of the major causes of friction.Mekstizzle wrote:
