ive used a few wireless mice (my dad had like the flagship logitech one, can't remember its name... futuristic looking thing, quite small) and just couldn't get used to them for gaming. i like the wired logitech g5 and the ability to customize the weight of the mouse exactly - according to left/right, forward/rear and so on. i get a real 'feel' for my mouse then which no-doubt helps my accuracy human-wise as much as minute DPI adjustments do pixel-wise. the wireless mice that i have used just feel... unbalanced, a little heavy, prone to drift and not as 'natural' to operate. if i want to control my media-centre or watch shit in bed: i have media controllers and a laptop. simple.

The latency from mouse-base-computer is probably about 1-3ms at the most.

Protip: your (well maybe not your crt) screen has a slower response time than that, and 3 ms is nothing when your shitty FinNet gives you pings of 150 to UK servers lololol.

Yeah bro, getting good batteries (like Duracell) they would last months. Seriously, I could go at least 3-4 months without having to change them. Get cheap ones and it was a month at the most, which is still fantastic.
3-4 months? Noob. With Energizer Lithiums in my laptop mouse, I easily make a year. Took about 15 months to wear down the last couple.

EDIT: Hey, DU, do you remember when I bought that mouse off of you?

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP

Don't care, cause I just invested £6.99 in 200mAh Energizer Rechargeables, so I never have to buy batteries again, for the foreseeable future.

Yeah, well I don't have either, which is why I want a wireless mouse.

I hope you mean 2000mAh.

Also, Lithium batteries weigh about a fifth of what NiMH such do.

how can you fuss over a few pixels and then discard 3ms? and you don't get 150ms to UK fps servers... WoW, maybe.

Yes I mean 2000, oops.

I like the weight, when I was using cheap batteries (£2 for 48) they were so fucking light and it felt weird.

Because the difference in a few pixels can mean a sniper shot hitting someone in the head, and missing someone completely. 1-3ms is nothing, my ping fluctuates 10-50ms so why am I going to care about 1-3ms?

I find it funny that people say that a problem with wireless mice is latency... come on now, that's ridiculous.

I'm stuck using a shit wired mouse at the moment, and I hate it. I hate having the wire.

i find it equally ridiculous that a wire can bother you. how the fuck does a wire get in the way? the corded logitech wire doesn't even rub on my wooden desk ffs.

Get a Deathadder if you can't afford a Mamba.

I used to be all "I love wireless, can't have a mouse without it"

Then I smartened up and bought a Deathadder and a cheapy one for the rare times I sit in bed and wanna control my computer.

Do that.

Also, there's a feature which allows you to change the sensitivty by simply holding a mouse button and scrolling (assignable). An excellent feature, I've found.

orrrr how about the feature on a logitech g5 where you just press a button and it changes the sensitivity.

ziiiing.

and yes, jay, macbook's trackpads are fucking amazing. main reason i ditched my sony vaio and got a macbook... the ease-of-use and speed/accessibility you get from the trackpad features, as opposed to dragging your ass everywhere just to open a few files using windows-based laptops.

It can scroll between 1.0 to 10.0, in jumps of .5, giving 19 sensitivity settings.

Zing.

Well I apologise if I like to click buttons on my mouse with my fingers and not my palm, retard (I know what you meant).

If you're not that good with your fingers, that's fair enough. I'll leave it at that.

Subtle, yet Grand-final zing.
