I don't know about you guys but to me it seems a little bit unfair that only players with joysticks can adjust the throttle in the planes. How hard would it be to make it also possible with keyboard..

You do realize that you can just accelerate and then let off the throttle, right?

And anyway, I dunno about you, but I'm always either going as fast as I possibly can or as slow as I possibly can. I don't see much need for anything else.

Ehr *sigh*

How do u adjust throttle in a jeep or how do u walk forwards and backwards as infantry ?

Increase throttle with da keyboard : Press W
Decrease throttle with da same keyboard : Press S

Works for all vehicles, even jets and choppers :-)

Yeah, I myself have a joystick m8, but there's a fine line on the throttle axis where accelerate and decelerate begin. If you ask me, it's really hard with the joystick and personally I found it easier with the keyboard.

I've also noticed a little bug that I have begun to hate, if you land while decelerating eg. holding down "S" even though you are at optimal landing speed, you will die

Werd, that's my two cents

Thanks, I've also noticed that I can STOP PUSHING THE ACCELERATE key but what I was talking about is flying slower all the time. And I also think that this is not a question whether it's useful or not, because it's a feature in the game and should be available for anyone, not just the joystick owners.

i happen to have a joystick that i use for flying jets, but for the throttle i use W and S, simple as that.  for helos i prefer to use the mouse, and the classic W and S too.  i never use my throttle button.

You are right.  It is unfair...because keyboards were designed for typing letters and memos and emails and im's, etc.  And joysticks were designed to fly jets and choppers.  I know if I tried to use a typewriter to drive my car I'd have some problems with that.  But you're problem is not that severe.  First off, you CAN control your throttle with the keyboard, but as several people already stated, you have to do it manually and continually adjust between the 'w' and 's' keys.  I have seen some pretty amazing keyboard pilots.  If that doesn't work for you (which it definately did not work well for me) than there is still a pretty easy solution to even the playing field...ready for this...buy a joystick.

Like others have said, it's not nearly as big a deal when flying jets but some of the jets fly faster than others and if you're in a faster jet it's nice to be able to adjust your speed down slightly to stay behind them.  But where the throttle control really comes into play is in a chopper.  You want to hover ten feet off the ground, no problem, 50 feet fine, higher whatever.  Throttle control in a chopper is extremely helpful for me.  And besides that, everything just feels more natural for flying jets or choppers with a joystick versus a keyboard.

Please don't take offense to this post because I used to feel the same way.  Buy a joystick, then practice for a little while on empty servers, and I promise it will be worth it.

i think i fly just fine with a keyboard and mouse. joystick allow for tighter turns, but thats when you just up your sensitivity to a crazy number.

I'm keyboard all the way. All it takes is the right sensitivity settings for your mouse and ingame sens. I honestly don't see any advantage to using a joystick whatsoever.

I use joystick and do real good so far. The throttle works good for chopper. The joystick is better with chopper then jet

Joysticks are for noobs who cant fly. If you adjust your controls right you can fly just as good as if you had a joystick.

Even if it was true, what would you propose to do about it? Disable joysticks?

No go.
