So I bought 2Gb of Kingston Ram to drop in my laptop to give it a much-needed performance boost. (AMD Sempron 2.1Ghz, Vista running on 1gb DDR2 333MHZ ram.)
I dropped the new ram in, but it caused all sorts of problems with an Nvidia graphics driver. Windows kept saying the driver had become unresponsive, then fixed, then sorted, then fixed. It did this a number of times.
I removed the 2Gb dimm, and it seemed to sort itself out again.
But...
When I put the 2Gb chip in the laptop on it's own, it doesn't want to boot past the Windows loading bar. Yet 2+1gb chips allow it to boot, albeit with problems, and the solitary 1Gb chip boots with no problems.
The ram my laptop has is DDR2 333Mhz. The ram I'm trying to put in is 667Mhz. Surely it would just drop down to 333Mhz? I don't see why it is causing problems.
Any help on the issue would be brilliant, as I really want to speed my craptop up.
